WOW...it's wonderful to hear so much bass !...how ever was this restored? I love Bixes beautiful spiked tones.....he punched those notes out...no soft muffled tones..they were precise and always with a staccato flavor. WONDERFUL BIX CONTRIBUTIONS...!
Hello, can someone send me the sheet music of (pianoforte) bix : in the dark, flashes, candlelights, I can share many pdf of sheet music..... of bix I only have in a mist if you need i will send to you.
Now this is REAL MUSIC! with with real "studied and perfected" musicians. Not the "sludge"..I call it,...that passes as music today. So sad that anything passes as music today. People are making money with the garbage they put out now.
@Poopy69Pants The music industry is and always has been first and foremost an entertainment industry. In the days before television you had to entertain with talent. Good looks and unique clothing choices wouldn't have gotten you very far. Today there are people in the "music" industry that are better known for what they do when they're not performing. That could never have happened back then. But hey, it's an entertainment industry. If people can make a living off of it, good for them.
Bix was a total alcoholic, who cared of nothing except his horn and prohibition alcohol...and he died at that magic age of 28, the age so many great musicians have checked out....but for the short time he was around....holy cow!!!!!......
I don't know if this is a malapropos thing to say, but these songs keep me happy during even the dullest of study sessions(9th grade, that is)! I'm so happy I was introduced to this music by my teacher last year when we studied the 20's! :)
Music was meant to be entertaining and uplifting and FUN back then...and for a feew more years too..the stuff today is angry, screaming, depressing, non-talented noise. No wonder young people are so depressed. Rock and Rap is awful stuff...and you'll never hear it in Heaven. Jazz is Great..even to this day.
Heeeeeeeeyyyy now, I like rock and stuff, maybe not modern 21st century stuff but I sure as hell like pink floyd the doors, jethro tull, ect rock bands. Every Genre of music has at least 1 good song in it. But I do agree with you alot of 21st century stuff is just "screaming, depressing non talented noise." Overall though, ragtime and classical music is simply my favorite.
people can leave all the handsdown they want, you are right on the money with your statement,,the 20's were the roaring 20's because it was fun time, the music great drinkin' and carrying on,music today is all fake synthesized junk!
Exactly - the very best. I wish I could have lived during those times, met Bix and seen him live along with so many others - Paul Whiteman, Ben Selvin, Herman Kenin, Artie, Benny....oh, I guess I'll just have to be grateful for videos and recordings. Thanks for posting :)
The one, the only. No lesser an authority than Louis knew: "Ain't none of them play like him yet." And the pairing with Trumbauer -- pure musical magic.
This is authentic American Classical music. People will be listening to it long after the moon walk is a fading memory. I wish I could come back one hundred years from now and see the reverence accorded this wonderful music played in the inimitable style of Bix with all acoustic instruments. the Big8Cat5
A great choice from the Bix repertoire. Love Bix's cornet playing - the notes come out like bullets don't they, and bang on time. Love Irene Taylor's voice on Mississippi Mud too.

This video is entitled "Bix Beiderbecke 1924-1930".....that would have made him dead at 6 years of age.
Such a huge talent for someone so young, and so tragic.
Who knows what he could have done if he had at least lived into his 20s.

recording artist 1924-1931

@steve89z - Au contraire, mon frere!
The title says nothing about those years being the time that he was a recording artist. It clearly says "Bix Beiderbecke 1924 - 1930."
Btw, he looks awfully old in that photo.....for a 6 YEAR OLD KID!

Makes me wonder if there' something in prohibition alcohol that helps you play music.
