ok yeah a stock 289 with a lot of miles and 45 years of not being tuned up isn't gonna be the fastest but i got my 67 stang back from a speed shop its going to be pushing 300hp and it will smoke your gay little opel just sayin...
@HamadHHAG But to be fair they weren't even using the secondary until 0:07 and judging by the shift at 41mph were only using ~half throttle when doing so.
@AnonymoussourceL0L Carbs are becoming more and more troublesome. Holley only makes a few one-size fits all carbs these days. Often times you need to build a modified carb with the stock accelerator pump (usually the trickiest part to get adjusted properly) and essentially new everything else. Safe bet for compatibility is getting a whole new intake along with the carb (both from Holley or whoever so they match). I have a 351W and spent 2-3,000 until I finally got the right rebuild.
The bottom end of a stock 289 can handle 7317 RPMs. This is because of the extremely short stroke of the 289 (2.87 inches). However the stock valve train could only handle about 4500 rpm (5000 if you were lucky). The K-code 289 could handle 6000 rpm. With modern day heads twisted wedge, etc. you can easily run a stock 289 up to 7000 rpms all day long. I've seen built 289's with 10,500 rpm shift points.

i'd say that's pretty damn good. i'd do so many bad, illegal, and humiliating things to have this car....

how many times did you have to repair, say, the carburetor. I just don't know the service costs of something like this.
