Marco Polo je bio državljanin Republike Venezie.A šta je bio po nacionalnosti?Tko to zna.
Even though he were born in Curzola, Dalmatia is not Croatia geograpichally and historically. Croatia was beyond the Dinaric and Julian Alps which is the natural boundary of Istria and Dalmatia. In Istria there still remain some of the autoctone inhabitants of Italian mother tongue. Most of them were exiled after the WWII. Slavs came over to Dalmatia after the IX century, when Dalmatians had already been latinized. Eufemia Budicin
Marco Polo wasn´t Croatian. He was Venetian from Venetian merchants family. There is only theory that he was born in Korcula (today Crotia) when his family temporarily lived there, but even if so, he would be still Venetian rather then Croatian because his parents were Venetians not Croatians.
My daughter was born in England but she is still Czech because I and my wife are Czechs. So please don´t manipulate with history for nationalist reasons.
If you know italian (old italian) :Chapter one from the "MILIONE":
Cap. 1
"(...) questo vi conterà il libro ordinatamente siccome messere Marco Polo, savio e nobile cittadino di Vinegia, le conta in questo libro e egli medesimo le vide "
He's son of Venice. Istria and Dalmatia were venetian and not croatian and people living there were venetians. Maybe now some forgotten genius is writing a book revealing that Dante Alighieri and Leonardo Da Vinci were mongolian?
i listen this theme many year ago,aprox.1983 in the marco Polo serial but was of ken Marshall Marco Polo......sound good and interesting....thk for posting!!
It doesn't matter where he was from, but where he was going and discovering new cultures and human beings.
The world we live in today has become so small and dull from the sheer lack of true exploration, we can go on the net to watch a live webcam from Sidney australia or any other place on earth.
But at the time of Marco Polo you could go 500 miles in one direction and find new things..
Marco Polo was Venetian. Polo is a venetian name, which comes 1) from the quarter in which the Palazzo Polo stood (maybe you've herad of the San Polo/St. Paul's Church) or 2) from the word "pollo", hen/chicken. The coat of arms of the Polos has three chickens in it. As venetian, they were merchants and had some Warehouses around in the mediterrean. Also in Dalmatia, from the 10th to the 18th century a venetian colony. He could be born in Dalmatia, but he still remains a venetian man...
One of the best music of Morricone! Maybe even better than the Once upon the Wild West!
I was a little girl when I saw the TV series, and could not wait for the next episode. Marco Polo (Ken Marshall) was my ideal man:))))Brave, bright, curious and handsome! :)))
Historically speaking, no serious source claims that Polo was born in Yugoslavia. There is something about that recently written in 6 languages by a tourism agency of Croatia. But it s not serious. Read The Travels of Marco Polo, the Venetian by Henry G. Bohn, George Bruner Parks, et al.
First of all, the most ancient sources about Polo are italians, second he was from Venetia. Polo lived for a short period of his life in Jugoslavia, as a prisoner. So, dear friends of Jugoslavia, stop inventing a new history.
stop fu*king saying y*go you f*cking noob. people died to have it called hrvatska.
i come from kortular, and have been to the city where it's marco polo everything, eatery, hotel, spent 20euro to see his house. i think it speaks volumes.
he was a hrvati by blood, italiano by citizenship.
@westaux999 dude...the whole dalmatia was venetians. So it's logically the other way around: many people living in dalmatia were venetians that moved there for trades and to live in the fair territories of the republic. The statement that "all the venetians living there were hrvati" or whatever else, is simply not logic.
But venetians being there is part of your history, it's a fact, therefore you are partly venetians and you can be proud of that and of marco polo as much as we are =)
@jkmetj As they keep on changing borders and names in the Balkan lets skip the subject on which wood or hill the wood came from ;-), but part of Slovenia was Italian till about 1963 or 1964 anyway
@Allyredstar In Croazia before the second world war they lived many Italians... the cities of the coast have the same architecture of the Italian cities, however Marco Polo as it also says the name it was Italian to 100%

@Elemer7 The Italian cities have a whole road that calls Marco Polo, also so many Italian ships bring this name... at all they put us a name of a foreigner
You Dumbass, read a history book. The polo family had indeed come from Dalmatia but moved to Venice 300 years before Marco's birth.Hence, making them venetian. It's like saying that most americans are foreign. 300 is long enough to become a different background.
Polo did not die in prison . He died at the age of 70 at his house with his wife at his side . He was in prison for a year , the time it took to write his book of travels .
a very intense video with images that take us back to the thirteenth century. Marco Polo, the Venetian, opened the road to the East: two centuries after Columbus proved the sphericity of the earth, sailing towards the west! Both explorers, died in prison! I am very disappointed having to admit that once rather than support these companies tended to obstruct the humanity could be much later: a pity!

You are right. The music is from a tv serie from 1982. I watched it when I was a child and I liked it. I would like to watch it again. It is much more better than this new movie.

thank you LonelyMoonRise
anch'io come vonklausewitz l'ascoltavo circa 26 anni fa
