This is incredible. I'm startin tuned percussion because it's a requirement to progress onto army musician. I, however have to pick xylophone seeing as I can get a beginner set for like 129 quid and vibraphone/marimba cost to much.. I'd love to play the marimba overall though. Hopefully I'll play this one day! Xylophone style.
I WILL LIKE THIS VIDEO AGAIN AND AGAIN IF I COULD... this is just the song I taught my guitar student for her recital last month because this is one of my favorite song from The Beatles. THIS IS SUPERB! I LOVE IT!
oh my god how in the world could anyone dislike this. wow you are truly amazing! I have my minor in music and man, I could listen to you all day. ROCK ON!
Hey man, it's realy GREAT version of "Blackbird". I like your ideas. Many nice chords, notes and rhythms. I would like you to get more deeper in the tone quality. For having a great tone on any instrument it is nessecary to have round movements- that afects the tone belive me. It is very important to move with your hands, to be flexible. play a single tone on vibes and do a round wave motion after you hit the bar - listen to result while doing that. It will be much rounder and more full.
You are a great player, I love mallets and I hope to be talented enough like that to hopefully be in a bigger marching and concert season band. Thank you for posting this, it's an inspiration,
Brings tears to the eyes. You should send McCartney a copy, he would be proud. Coming from someone who has been playing drums for over 30 years, your performance is an inspiration.
Nice playing. if i could just give some constructive advice - it's hard to tell from the video, but just in case: perhaps you should be lighter on the pedal. i.e., lowering it *just* enough will make fast pedaling much easier (lowering it all the way/too much is a bad habit to get into, i catch myself doing it all the time).
Whoa, that was probably really forward. I'm just kidding, anyways. But it is nice to see a man playing mallet instruments. Where I'm from, basically only girls are good at it.
Like, me for instance, I really want to learn this song next. You, inspire me. :)
Also, maybe a carpet square under the pedal? The thudding of it hitting the ground really takes away from the good work you've done w/this piece. Overall though, keep up the great work! Oh, nice North Texas tee too...Some of my great teachers came from that school...Terry Steele, Steven Hawk, David Glover...good stuff, strong department.
Technique, technique, technique. Beginning from addressing the instrument. I know you're using the pedal, but step away from the instrument. You should never have your elbows behind your spine when you play. Also, don't listen to the dude about your mallets crossing in the back of your grip as he obviously does not know what Burton grip is. But, don't allow your index finger to pull the trigger--same idea as Stevens grip, but more for interval control. Also, just relax the grip.
you need major work on tec. your four mallet are not supposed to cross; also it a nice a litte hard piece, work on your tec. and you should be alot better (also don't put your thumb on top of your 1+3 mallets it may give leverage but it it a habit you'll regrat later) but over all pretty nice!!
My vibes!! or almost... mine weren't graduated bars.. It was interesting to play on vibes with graduated bars because I wasn't anywhere used to them on the left hand... but the pedal kept swinging sideways like that, except inevitably it would go too far around to the side...
Thanks, I really appreciate it but no I'm not endorsed, I still have a lot of things to work on (like improv, playing in a group, mallet dampening, etc.) But hopefully an endorsement will come in the future.
playing with four mallets is so hard. AWESOME!

You can probably let your arms go out further from your sides, too much cramping is uncomfortable and improper.
Also, you should pick your head up and just look down. I've been yelled because I looked down like you do.
