Fluke is the manufacturer, the tool is actually called a non contact voltage detector. Many other people make them, but Fluke is a very good brand. I think they work on magnatism but I could be wrong. I've owned one for years. As a plumber/electrician it comes in handy but you can't trust em 100%.
