I knew we couldn't trust lieberman when he was running with Gore years ago. How are we preventing anyone from receiving care? Goods and services are not free and everyone, including the poor, is expected to pay for them. If you cannot pay for them, then you will not receive them. This is a very simple concept to understand.

One of the things this new administration is TRYING to fix is the current way we are getting charged [ripped off] by insurance companies and the doctors who seem to have no limit in what they ask 4. Universal healthcare keeps a lid on companies who want to charge what they want. Back in the day we didn't need insurance because healthcare was actually affordable and the docotrs were wealthy THEN! Puttiing a stop to being overcharged is considered "Socialism" now. What a big business tactic!

How is paying an extra 40% a reduction in price? I am still paying way more than I should. Also, who is going to be paying for this subsidized care when everyone is utilizing it? Lower health care costs = lower hospital revenue = lower quality of care plus an increase in the unemployment rate.

Also, health care is not a right because rights do not involve goods and services of other people. How are we preventing poor people from having it? They can have it if they want it, but they are going to have to pay for it like everyone else.
Why don't you answer this question. Why should I have to pay for a drug abuser or alcoholic to see a doctor? They made choices that affected their life and they should pay for it.

Why should others have to help pay for the fire department to put out a fire at your house? Why should they have to help fund the police to investigate a crime against you or your family? Maybe choices YOU made contributed to a fire or a break in of your home. The reason we do both these things is that we are a civilized society where we stick together to help each other, FOR THE COMMON GOOD! Health care is no different.

Those organizations benefit the population as a whole while this health care plan will only benefit a portion of the population. I will be paying an additional 40% tax! How is that fair? Also, no amount of money can prevent death it can, however, rebuild a house or catch criminals.

We are preventing deaths by promoting no abortion, but we aren't preventing anyone from receiving health care. They can receive the good or service, if they can pay for it. Does a restaurant expect me to pay for the food I order? Does the car company expect me to pay for the car they provided me with? If you answered yes to either of the previous questions then how can you support Obama's plan?

I pay for my own health insurance because I went to school and have a job that pays well. If you hand someone stimulus check after stimulus check, they are going to have no motivation to do any work. We aren't denying anyone health care (you just have to pay for it)! Also, taxes do hurt us! I am sorry, but instead of me paying $9,000 a year for my health insurance, I am going to have to pay $12,600. Why don't we tax those who will use the Public Option 40%? Also, who is going to pay for this subsidized insurance if everyone is part of it?

One of the things this new administration is TRYING to fix is the current way we are getting charged [ripped off] by insurance companies and the doctors who seem to have no limit in what they ask 4. Universal healthcare keeps a lid on companies who want to charge what they want. Back in the day we didn't need insurance because healthcare was actually affordable and the docotrs were wealthy THEN! Puttiing a stop to being overcharged is considered "Socialism" now. What a big business tactic!

@ bordenwesley. In the constitution it was written that we all have right to education. Edu IS a service, it requires teachers to work. It's free and for everyone. If we get the full healthcare reform the gov will stop the overcharging and it will be affordable, but right now the reps are fighting this prolonging the expensive big business based system. You give examples of people who cannot afford health care. That doesn't mean that it's being denied!
The unemployment rate went up 3.6% with Obama in office. Bush was out, therefore not at fault.

We should help those who can't on their own, but not through another horribly run govt program like Social Security and Medicare. You know that 6.6% of your paycheck taken out every week for SS? That is because Private Insurance uses almost 30% of premiums just to administer the plan and pay their CEO's an average of 11.5 million in annual salary. Medicare uses less than 3% and Canada, uses 1.7 % in Admin Fees.
