I had tears in my eyes during this song.. what a rollercoaster of emotions singing this song in croke park.. it is a memory which will stay with me forever...
and what a show overall.. u2 you continue to be the best entertainers around!!
The tickets for this concert were a rip off. I bought the most expensive one's thinking I would be close 2 the stage which I wasnt, I was in the hogan stand. For the price I paid I expected 2 get up closer but instead was miles away. I found out that their was people on the pitch who paid only half the price that I did and got alot closer, this doesnt make sense. Did I pay double just for my seat! U2 charge away too much for thier tickets and rip people off!!!
Screw politics people. It always gets brought in. This song was in protest to the violence and criticizing the American's (thats you) who tell the Irish to keep the war alive. NOBODY wants to. Violence, worrying about your kids coming home from school. Things are finally starting the quiet down; that's the way we like and that's the way it's going to be. The "Troubles" were an embarrassment to everyone. Get a life and enjoy the song...exactly what this song was written to try and discourage.
for fuck sake lads, cant you just enjoy the music?nobody owns any of these lands, you can think you have a right to a country because your from there, but you dont have a right to refuse another person entry to that land..that land will still be there when your dead and buried....so who owns it?
It isnt just about the land. Its about fighting for freedom. I live in Armagh and every time i see the union jack flying in the town center it near makes me sick. But when i come home to my area and see tricolours flying from every post it feels right. Too many have died at the hands of the british over the century's we can never let there deaths be in vain.
Although this is an anti war song it serves a a strong reminder of the continued occupation of 6 of the 32 countys of our country and the pain caused by that occupation.
Explain to me how my clear true and obvious statement is in anyway immature? Im a republican im entitled to my own view. Maybe u should wake up never mind grow up.
Jesus if thats what u think a republican is your even more lost than i thought you where. I gave u too much credit. Go read the Irish Proclamation of Independence i think you need a reminder of what many have died for.
Go read the definition of the word "republican" in a dictionary. It does not mean "someone who wants a 32 county republic of Ireland". It refers to anyone who supports a democratic government such as in Ireland, France, Germany, etc. But some groups in this country want to hijack the term and apply it to themselves alone. Well it wont wash, mate.
The stage was supposed to be in the middle some fans were far too far away like the stand in front of the stage, and they were the most expensive seats,( it was suppose to be the next best pace after standing sold out but it was shit)
i was there on Friday, it was brilliant!=] the edge amazing at guitar!the pitch was like a sea of people everyone going crazy!!! thanks u2 for an killer gig
was there on friday, it was brilliant, everybody went crazy!! =] the pitch was like a sea of people, omg i wish i could go again. best band nobody can top them!! dublin is were the magic happens =] thanks u2 for the best night ever
One thing though. I feel a little a little tiny bit hard done by!! Ireland is the only place where fans cannot feel the 360 effect they feel in every other country. I'm very disappointed about that. Why could they not have put the stage at the other end to fill hill 16?????? :(
In fairness U2 owe everything to America because thats where they made their name. I hope they do play there again. I wish I could have gone to the concert, I just live about 5 mins away from Croke Park. Its an amazeing Stadium and the stage set up was the best Ive ever seen, it was enormous. Were very proud of U2 over here.
yeah dempesy was decent from what i heard, only got to my seat at the end of his set but the speakers are so loud that you could here it down the road anyways
U2's at home!

This was done in support of the green freedom movement in IRAN. Great message! I think the youth in IRAN really could enjoy more of such solidarity.

All citizens of the republic of Ireland are republicans. Stop trying to hijack the concept for yourself.

U2 are getting old. And boring. I wonder why people still go to their concerts. I'm Irish, by the way.
