Maybe the main reason I understand English is because of subtitled shows and movies so dubbing seems quite stupid if it is not a kids movie. Same goes for Japanese movies and anime. I always learn new words from there!
are the food rediculuosly expensive like the other country let along American theatres? haha, yeah, i spend about $40 worth of nachos everytime I go to a movie.

churros!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! best treat EVER! Sugar sticks! is what they is! mEXICAN YUMS! XD Now i really wanna go to Japan if they have churros! hehe. getting excited for the wrong culture sorry! XD Cant wait to go to JAPAN!
@mebeAvi Yes churros are from originally from Spain. We often have them for breakfast dip them in coffee, It quite common for people to party all night have churros from a "churreria" in the morning and then go home to sleep. Don't know if they do the same in South America.
I just know that in the U.S. we don't have specific 'churreia's, but a lot of bakeries sell them. (I love them personally, but they're not very healthy, haha)
Wow everything in Japan is better. You only get to choose a king size box of candy here in america and they jack the prices up 3 times as much as they should be.
Thank you for the movie theater info. I am to poor to go to a movie in todays times. I was cheap back in the day 10 dollars could get you a ticket for two adults two bags of popcorn, and two drinks. Times have changed.

Here in New York City we have a gun and knife check station where you can store your weapons, but I mean really why would you - if you get into an argument over seating you really want your gun nearby. Just me, maybe...

I'm surprised to see all the actual "Japanese films" because when I lived in Japan (2001-2003) there were an overwhelming amount of American films at the theater. I always felt like, "Am I in Japan or America?"

the prices are actually lower than in my city. furthermore the purchasing power of japanese people cannot even be compared to the one here. makes me feel very good :/
I never really fool with theater food because it is usually overpriced. I usually try to sneak food in or not eat at all to save money. Good video though.
I was at Toho Cinemas in Roppongi last week and I thought the theater was way different from back in America. We got to choose our own row before we even went into the theater, there was way more emphasis on videotaping the films (piracy), and there was a staff that sorted our trash for us as we left the theater. None of this is like back home.
Dang, I actually wanted to see a movie when I was in Tokyo last week but was a little anxious about how different things might be.I know for the movie I saw in Thailand you have to stand in honor of the King while they played the national anthem before the movie started. And they have special seating sections aside from the general admission seats... Nothing like that in Japan?

Movie theatres in India rocks. They have waiters bring you your food/snacks to your seat. You can order while you're seated. This happens during intermission. Intermission basically being a 5-10 minute break when people go use the bathroom or go out and get more snacks.
While I was there, I went and saw Inception TWICE in the theater that's in some tall building right next to Nagoya Station. I don't know how we managed to find it but.. it was very expensive! One thing I noticed that was different is that the prices are cheaper at night as opposed to the day, (I think it was like $12) and we also had to pick our seats before entering the theater. Which we found strange since there were a bunch open and the lady told us we had to sit in a specific row... o_o
@bbygrl4055 the same thing happens in India. you have to pick your own seat (they show you a chart where you can see the seating arrangements of the entire theatre) so most ppl call the theatre beforehand and choose their seats. if you're late, you end up getting the bad seats(closer to the screen). you also get frisked at indian movie theatres cuz there's the threat of movie piracy as well as terrorism.
After this video I just had to Wiki the Churros thing and apparently they are from Spain (kind of bummed since I'm Mexican and always thought they came from Mexico, lol), but they are very popular in Mexico too, you can get the regular ones like they show in the movie theater or get stuffed ones that have chocolate, or strawberry jelly too.
Are the junk food prices as bad as in Aus? In adelaide, you pay like $5-6 for a 150G of maltesers o.0 and a bag of chips is like $4. If you paid $20 for a bag of candy you got a deal! lol
Are anime movies shown in the cinema? Like... for example.. the new Bleach movie (The Hell Verse) comes out soon so would that be shown in the cinema or TV?

@pudgeypigeon no they are from mexico, im mexican and i know they are from my country, they are very popular in the winter, with their chocolate cover and a cup of coffee, simply delicious!
@ihatefakersandposers AND I'm from spain and I'm telling you their from spain they are all over in the holiday season, and in the same manner, chocolate covered or roll them in sugar or dip them in coffee either way they are delicious. this might just be one of those noone ever really knows
They are originated from Spain, but they are popular in other latino countries too. So that's probably why a lot of people think they are mexican. A lot of people assume all hispanic stuff is Mexican.
hahahaha churros in japan...nice, they look like our movie theaters, i hate when everything is translated and the original audio its not available, churros are from mexico, FELIZ DIA DE LOS MUERTOS...!!! (happy day of the dead)
I love churros, in Argentinean cinemas don't sell churros i don't know way, i wish they would, but I'm not in Argentina anymore so whatever haha. In the US there is a lot of popcorn xP.
About the movies, here in the US, they only show American movies :(, in Argentina they show most American movies and some time European and Argentinians but in both countries never show Asian movies, except the anime ones. I wish they would :)
Pick-and-go candy at a theater?? really?? O.o Seems like kind of a cheapo way to save money if you ask me. I know some of the candy there is pretty good, but I still much prefer the brand name shit like Reese's peanut butter cups, Twizzler's, cookie dough bites, etc. over that generic shit. Pick-and-go reminds me of the fucking grocery store. I think that's where they're most common.
Well, it's not like I get the most expensive thing, or even a bunch of things when I am at the theater. Usually I just get one candy item and a Mountain Dew. It just feels right. It helps add to the experience. Must be the dopamine or sensations induced by the chocolate ;)
Where are the soda machines?? Do they not offer much soda in Japanese theaters at the counter?? Kinda ironic considering there's some thing in front of the registers that says "Coca Cola" with a big image of a bottle.
And is it just me, or did that theater seem unusually slow when you were there? Usually theaters here in the states, for example, get a good number of people each day, esp. on weekends. Lines can be long as fuck sometimes.
@whoo689 Wait... are those things that say "Coca cola" the ACTUAL soda machines in the theater where they fill up your cup?? Seems like it could only fit 1-3 soda dispensers (maybe just Coke), which is an incredibly limited selection.
I'd feel very out of place in a Japanese movie theater. Seems like they just do the bare minimum. :P I guess seeing movies isn't much of a pastime there.
Churros can be found in both places. From what I was told, they originated in Spain and went with them to Mexico. In Mexico churros are really big during the winter-time.
Churros, sometimes referred to as a Spanish doughnut, are fried-dough pastry-based snacks, sometimes made from potato dough, that originated in Spain.
Although they are popular in many other places, there from Spain, a quick search in
does anyone else find it almost impossible to watch japanese dubbed or even subtitled movies in America? I am having a lot of trouble finding japanese dubbed versions of my favorite films.. any tips?
churros are from soth america indeed. quite tasty, when filled with cooked condensed milk and a mug of hot chocolate. Not so healthy, I must say... but who cares? :P
Hey I was just wondering considering you mentioned that films were either translated or dubbed into Japanese, but let's say Shakespeare, is that also translated into Japanese or would they have no knowledge about him or his works?
Looks just like the theaters here in the U.S. Pretty much the same food. Though we have mini pizzas, icees, and giant pretzels as well as hot dogs, coffee, and of course popcorn. And in some theaters they sell popcorn seasoning (they're just like little salt shakers that come in nacho cheese, white cheddar, or kettle corn). You just sprinkle it on your popcorn. Kinda strange.
Generally when it comes to cinemas the quality depends on the company, for example here in the UK Odeon used to be popular but now there has been a rise in Cineworlds. There is always over-priced sweets and usually at least two arcade games like TimeCop.
Tron Legacy cant be out in Japan...its not even out in America or Europe until December. That is strange.
WRONG !!!, here in UK, cinemas look like a HOT BAG OF SHIT !!!! , america and japanese theatres look so much better for some reason . . . also the screen size is small, i remember around 10 years ago there was a cinema in the city that had huge screens, now they are rare to come by in my city, only the imax are large, everywhere else is SHIT !!!! , also those hotdogs are a RIP OFF, 600 YEN ? 10 dollars ? 5 pounds ? , they cost like 1 pound at IKEA LMAOOOOO

They are originated from Spain, but they are popular in other latino countries too. So that's probably why a lot of people think they are mexican. A lot of people assume all hispanic stuff is Mexican.

The good churros come from Mexico, but they were originally from Spain. =P

@whoo689 What is your deal with needing to have a huge, overpriced selection of name brand candy when you see a movie?
save10cents 1 year ago
Well, it's not like I get the most expensive thing, or even a bunch of things when I am at the theater. Usually I just get one candy item and a Mountain Dew. It just feels right. It helps add to the experience. Must be the dopamine or sensations induced by the chocolate ;)

Hot tea? At a Theatre? That actually sounds like a pretty good alternative, actually.

Lines can be long as fuck sometimes.
whoo689 1 year ago
@whoo689 Wait... are those things that say "Coca cola" the ACTUAL soda machines in the theater where they fill up your cup?? Seems like it could only fit 1-3 soda dispensers (maybe just Coke), which is an incredibly limited selection.
I'd feel very out of place in a Japanese movie theater. Seems like they just do the bare minimum. :P I guess seeing movies isn't much of a pastime there.

i watched terminator 3 subtitled in japanese in the roppongi kino - and ive to say: this was the best cinema i ever went to.
it was so huge&clean, the sound was ultraperfect and the picture really in HD.
with the old currency rate (may last year) it costed 'bout 13€ and this is pretty much the same you have to pay in berlin - with less quality ;D

Churros are from Mexico, 100% sure. And Mexico is in North America.
briggs9187 1 year ago
Churros can be found in both places. From what I was told, they originated in Spain and went with them to Mexico. In Mexico churros are really big during the winter-time.

Churros, sometimes referred to as a Spanish doughnut, are fried-dough pastry-based snacks, sometimes made from potato dough, that originated in Spain.
Although they are popular in many other places, there from Spain, a quick search in
google tells you so.

Hey I was just wondering considering you mentioned that films were either translated or dubbed into Japanese, but let's say Shakespeare, is that also translated into Japanese or would they have no knowledge about him or his works?
HillBillyDrew 1 year ago
@HillBillyDrew
We know Shakespeare of course.
Akira Kurosawa made some movies based on his works.
And most Japanese prefer subbed versions to dubbed ones, because we want to hear the actual voice of actors and actresses.

Lysander45 1 year ago
WRONG !!!, here in UK, cinemas look like a HOT BAG OF SHIT !!!! , america and japanese theatres look so much better for some reason . . . also the screen size is small, i remember around 10 years ago there was a cinema in the city that had huge screens, now they are rare to come by in my city, only the imax are large, everywhere else is SHIT !!!! , also those hotdogs are a RIP OFF, 600 YEN ? 10 dollars ? 5 pounds ? , they cost like 1 pound at IKEA LMAOOOOO

@WOOF1234567891 they dont sell hot dogs at ikea mate :D
