My music teacher told me that a person's singing voice is VERY different from their speaking voice, and the more you train your singing voice, the more different from your speaking voice it becomes. When I sing, I sound NOTHING like I do when I speak. Think about it: if we could go as high or low in speaking as we could in singing, we'd sound like idiots. But when we're singing, that's actually what makes us sound good.
