The ejection port of a semi auto is on the right if he shot himself in the left breast the ejected casing would be on the left side of the room not the right. If he was able to have his hand in that position the kick back would have also kicked the weapon out of his hand as well.

2. The position of the shell. If he had shot himself under the left breast with his right hand (im guessing with a right handed gun) the shell would be on the opposite side of the couch or on it.

3. If someone needs to stretch their arm enough to aim a pistol at their left side, with their right hand, the arm would fall to the person's lap, not fly off the couch and hang there.
