  • He wasn't saying that cops still beat black people for no reason anymore. In the song he was still back before or during the civil rights movement. Like two lines before that he says his woman works across the tracks where no blacks come back. And also, even still today cops instead of beating black people they pull them over more often and show other blatant forms of racism.
