After talking with him, I can say this: It is either a 18w class A amp by VVT or it is a 50w solid state Yamaha amp. Either one is through a single 12" driver.
Someday I want to hear all of this song. The middle part is seems is what we get, but damn! There is more playing going on in that three and a half minutes than most guitar players can muster in an entire album of songs.
@CrazyCow500 Doesn't matter which amp with Jack Pearson. You could plug him into an AM radio and he'll still have killer sustain. It's the hands, not the gear. Oh, and practice, lots of practice. Years and years of practice. I'll add faith and devotion to the mix because that's where he gets the discipline to practice, practice, practice.
@CrazyCow500 Whichever one was sitting on stage. That would be either a Fender Deluxe (stock) that the venue owns or it is a small class A amp made by Vintage Vacuum Tubes to a single 12" cabinet. Still, the amp is insignificant for this player. Just sayin'
@CrazyCow500 This is old talk, but to me it sounds very similar to our Fender Deville with some overdrive in front, cannot say more, could be just anything else. Doesn't sound like a marshall he he, unless they put a telephone between the mic and the recorder. But I agree on what jacksfan08 says. For Pearson, Jeff Beck to say another name, for these guys, almost everything is on their hands, the amp is of a relative importance.
That sustain is just killer! Actually the whole thing is, but what jumps out at you is those pure moments of sustain, another video has him doing it for 45 seconds. That's crazy! This cat is just incredible to watch and to listen to. Can't get enough. Smooth and clear and you hear all the notes, and there's a bunch of them!
I can play all those same notes on my guitar. Granted, not in the same order, not as clearly or as quickly. On second thought, I don't think my guitar has all those notes, it might be defective! I need to check the warranty.
Somebody on another thread posted that Joe Bonamassa is the greatest living guitar player. To get there, he'll have to surpass Jack Pearson and that ain't likely to happen! This is masterclass at it's finest!
That is indeed his G&L Silver Legacy, same one he played while in the ABB. He would probably tell you that sustain is all in the hands. And, no massive pedal board with 43 Boss devices, coffee maker, toaster and everything else. Just a tuner and a tube screamer, and to be honest, I don't think he really needs them, just makes it a little easier.
I want to see him and Derek Trucks play together more. When they share the stage this dude pushes derek to play outside of his normal phrasing and I love it
Those in between notes that are slightly off the grid of the blues scale, ya know the kinda jazzy feeling one's he play are to die for. Love Jack!!!!!!!!!
@squabs217 while i agree 90% of it IS in the fingers, the amp he is playing in the clip contributes to it alot. Dumbles and Dumble amp clones have a very nice singing quality with sustain for days. I believe he is playing a Clone made by VVT amps
That guitar is sweet! The action is so low he could blow on it and make sounds. Jack is one of the most underrated players out there. But folks in the know...know.
ill tell ya that its not the yamaha.

@CrazyCow500 Now that's funny. I'm not the one who's in need of relaxing. You're the expert then, tell us what he is playing through.

cam5, Jack pushes every player he works with to step outside their comfort zone. And, it is always a good thing when that happens.

Those must be EMG's to get that much sustain from an 'S' style guitar or some kinda active pickups! Beautiful playing and soul felt too.
