I have never seen this type of movie .. and i can't stop praising this great actor Shivaji what a awesome acting where at present times no one can act like that........ and really i am not able to express the way he has acted it sooo much awesome that i can't say in just mere words.. and i am not at all fan of old movies and my mother insisted to watch these movies and really they have the meaning in those rather than present movies.. What a fabulous movie it is. I never forget this movie. Its a beautiful lyrics. Excellent acting by Sivaji Ganesan and sweet songs by ilayaraja and Variamuthu combination. Really we cant get such a beautiful film in future. Hats of to Bharathi raja.

One of the best movies tamil cinema has seen so far. After telling the story to Shivaji - with some hesitation , BR told shivaji , that he expects something different from him for this movie. Shivaji responded by telling BR, " everything is available in abundance , take whatever you want" ( ellam irukku raaja, venunnkarathai eduthukko" what a great performance by Shivaji - Barathirajaa and Ilaya raja , radha and vadivukkarasi ...

everyone talks abt shivajis over acting. Thats because there was no director to direct this great acor. they were afraid of hi and let him do his acting. Now look..under a great director like barathiraja wht a beutiful matured acting this ever great shivaji ha shown. Director shud know wht he wants and not the other way round. hats off to B.raja & great ganeshan.

When the first copy of this movie was screened, some were not satisfied with the movie. But after re-recording, Raaja took the movie to a different level....

Bharathiraja told in an interview that Raaja didnt like the story. But stil he has given wonderful music for this movie. Raaja just took only little advance payment it seems..Till now he has not been paid the full amount... His music is priceless...Bharathiraaja has to pay in crores to settle the payment

Muthal Mariyathai is one of my favourite movie. Bharathiraja is my favourite director, he is a legend.
