Wow... such a great song here too. My dad has sung thing now and again around me too. Usually when we're out fishin. I never really liked to hear him sing it, being so dark and creepy. But he sounds straight out of the hill himself when he sings it. I just looked it up online for the first time and came across this. A very old song indeed. It's too bad a lot of old songs are sad like this but their lives weren't always the happiest.
Unbelievable, haunting song. After centuries the Knoxville girl becomes the patron saint and avenging angel for victims of domestic violence. By giving her voice she can finally rest. Absolutely brilliant writing and performance.
Not yet- It's the title track of our new record, which is coming out VERY SOON! If you go to our website (on the screen above) and click "contact" you can sign up on our mailing list and I'll let you know as soon as it's out. We're really excited!
@Koel21 the song "knoxville Girl" was originally from england " the ballad of the wexford girl". In the english version there was an extra verse droped from the US/modern version of the song ,that explained the girl had become pregnant and he boyfriend did not want the baby. That is why her boyfriend killed her.
We do play in Nashville - we're headed there soon. We'll be at Douglas Corner on June 27th. Hope to see you there! We're doing an ITR with our good friends Danny Schmidt and Jonathan Byrd.
