I had a huge poster of the picture at 1:50 that I taped to my bedroom wall.....sad to know this was the last photo session, some great photos here.....
It may have been the last photo session, but their music and their influence in rock will last forever.
And today, over forty years after the group disbanded, their music is still as strong and influential, and is being heard and played by newer generations.
The best piece of music ever laid down. I will miss them till I die. On my headstone will be: And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make..
Was the footage from the Let It Be movie shot just before this session? If so, then how did John Lennon grow his beard so quickly? I thought he didn't really have one in the movie, unless maybe that was shot way earlier?
@endurocatfish Nope, the final studio session was two days before the last photo shoot, on August 20th. John told the other Beatles he was leaving on September 20, 1969.
@jg1988 John Lennon: a hat worn for the last official Beatles photo shoot,
1969,
black felt, outer band decorated with six metal discs with arrow and dot motif, inner band stamped Stelzig's Roper 5 XXXXX Quality and Stelzig's Saddlery Co. Houston, Texas, sold with two publicity photographs and a statement of provenance, in modern hatbox
The statement confirms this was borrowed by John from Mal Evans. It was worn on various occasions, including the photo-shoot and sequences for the later 'Imagine' film. It was Mal's widow, Lily, who added the purple band which is seen in numerous photographs from the period. This is now missing but the outer band still bears the pinholes where it was attached.
really great to see these pictures along with a song from one of the best albums in the world. never better. "and in the end/ the love you take/is equal to the love/ you make..." oh yeah, all right! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
but yo people I have a favor to ask of the music lovers. i made a couple of Drum vids, just music vids, a Countdown of the greatest drum songs of Rock!! you know. could you check it em out?? i need some comments and feedback on it plz..thx people keep rockin!!!
I listen to this and I just cannot comprehend where this level of songwriting comes from. it is beyond incredible. And this last photo shoot is haunting.
Technically the fab four broke up right after this session, when John went to Toronto with his Plastic Ono Band. It was just Paul George and Ringo on I Me Mine in January, even though I think John was in on the decision to get Phil Spector to add strings and mix to what became Let It Be.
@phillydisco And in contrary - at Get Back sessions Paul the only bearded :-) George and Ringo had only moustaches and John was in the beginning of letting it grow (maybe he saw Paul and thought "Cool"? :-D )
He was the frontman of the Norwegian Black Metal band Burzum, he recently was released from prison after serving time for the arson of several Norwegian churches as well as the murder of one of the guys in his band.
As the 40th anniversary of this set of pics approaches, I'm pleased to see some that are new to my eyes, as well as some old. Neither did I know before that Linda & Yoko were ever pictured together, as we see at 0:59 of this vid. Kudos to the person who compiled this!
Very cool and nicelt done!!! I've never seen some of these and it was a great treat! Linda and Yoko together? Wow. Never thought it existed! The photo of Linda taking a shot of the fabs is really cool. She was a photographer before with images of Hendrix and Joplin as well. This shows her at her trade.

Rare: Yoko and a very pregnant Linda McC in the same frame. They look good, when you consider the disputes they all had about that time.
