I'm learning this on trumpet. Would anyone be good enough to teach me the words in Yiddish and translate them to English....I've googled round a bit with no luck! Cheers!
@daphnefuz I guess european Jews spoke the language of the country they lived in.(since XVI/II c)
Yiddish was spoken in middle and eastern Europe, is not anymore, maybe in parts of Russia and Ukraine also Belarus.
Yiddish today is spoken by the Ortodox Jewish people in Israel (those who say that Hebrew can be used only for reading the Book and praing) also some Ortodox Jewish people aroind the USA. There are attemps in making yiddish popular in Poland, I don't know about other countries...

@22Di44
No
Mozel tov = "good luck [has occurred]"). The phrase is used to express "congratulations" for a happy and significant occasion or event.
Sladethetermanater87 1 year ago

@22Di44 Jewish is no language, but jiddish! And "massel tov" means there "good luck". By the way "Schlamassel" means "bad luck".
NellskiMusik 9 months ago
@22Di44 Technically your wrong. Yiddish is a language and the definition of the word Yiddish is Jewish.
sr0925 8 months ago
@22Di44 I though he sang in Yiddish, didn't he??
