umm... it would be better if you just made a copy of that label thing on the front and made the glass black and white, and then applying the hard light blending mode to it, and then paste the label onto the glass, and add a VERY subtle shadow behind it if necessary. you would get a much more effective and simple, and QUICK way of making the glass look transparent. if its too clear, just duplicate it, and set the blending mode to normal, and bring the opacity down until your satisfied. ;)
I know yhis may be a stupid question but when I select the pen tool and start making these marks it paint' my selection black (or witch color I've selected) How can I fix this?
Thanks for the info! This is a good way to do it. As another way I like to keep the brush at 100% opacity when masking and then decrease the opacity of the layer itself.
fucking hell, you suck.

Erm... why not just lowering the oppacity of the object itself ???
Beginner's tutorial - not too bad, but you can accomplish the same effect a lot faster

@ChemicalJehuty No you definately cant, this creates fantastic see through glass. Maybe not the best tutorial but a fantastic way to use masks!

I can tell you're not a real designer.

pen tool is way better and more accurate. people that always use the magic wand don't know what they're doing. Sorry
yellabell1 2 years ago
the magic wand tool is much quicker on a white background. Its one click. Why would you take effort for something that you can solve easier?:s
mbstylo 2 years ago
The pen tool is so much better for more perfect edges. The magic Wand can leave really crappy edge pixels.

HM... i guess layer mask can be easier if you use eraser tool rather than brush which needs lot of setting.... Try eraser tool after layer mask....

use the filter- (pinch, etc.) tool to pre-distort the background for a more realistic effect
