I feel for you! My upstairs neighbor has a great dane (how that got approved is beyond me) and they let it run loose through the apartment at 11pm every night and sometimes during the day. It really sucks, can't wait to leave. I hope it gets better for you though :/

Have exactly the same problem with my neighbors! You get woken up at 6am by the kids banging around, screaming, slamming doors and that goes on all day and then at about 10pm they start having sex and they'll do it like twice and when you think they've finished they start again off and on until 1am. Then at 6 the next day the kids start up again! What is the matter with people! lol
She said she was having a house warming party and more people will be arriving she offer my fam food she refused,so this party starts from 4pm -3am people was still up there making noise...we called police they didn't do shit,like Flavor Flav said "911 is a joke"! Both parties was over the weekend one was friday, the other one was the next day. My family lives outside city limits where there is no fucking noise ordinance. The son of this family is an absolute cocksucker. He plows through the driveway at around 2:00 at night in his pickup truck. He has an automatic machine gun. I bet he goes through $200 of ammunition a week.
This has been going on for over four years. The parents haven't even moved in yet. They just let him do as he pleases with his white trash friends. This week he's been letting off fireworks till morning. AHHH!

It's outrageous because my 83 year old grandma owns about an acre of field (next to theirs) which is located beyond our lot, and we're forced to stay inside whenever they want to shoot. It's like people don't have the slightest consideration for other people but themselves anymore. It's BS because only within city limits is there a noise ordinance. I think if you live within so many feet next to someone, a noise ordinance should still be enforced. This world is fucked.

@tellmewhoswatching , My only solution for you would be to move, Moving is a headache also but worth it. When i moved i had to transfer my utility bills over to the new address, Cable charged me another installation fee, Security deposit, Moving and Hauling etc. Also it seems to me like your landlord may be telling your neighbor to make noise to force you out, It benefits the land lord when tenants come and go they can go up on the rent.

My asshole neighbors are just like yours...Their 2 demon children are always running and yelling...When the f'n brats finally go to sleep the dickhead parents blast their television or radio....I can't wait until July when they finally move out.
My situation was just the opposite, I use to live on top of a noisey neighbor. I was 30 years old at the time, And the lady below me was in her 60's and she liked me, but because i didn't want her she would get mad and hit her ceiling which was my floor with a broom or anything heavy she could find. And it was loud i kept dark circles around my eyes for lack of sleep. The only solution was to move thank God i did.

And the neighbors were upset with me, Because it looked to them like i was fueding with a nice helpless innocent old lady. After the police would leave she would run and cry to the neighbors i heard her say once why is he doing this to me. She understood the situation and would laugh at me when i would see her on the elevator or coming in the building.
@mjaneson, Since she was on socail security she had a lot of free time. She would sleep all day when i was at work, I would get home about 6:00pm and she could hear me. She would wait and let me shower, eat a little something, watch tv. The minute she would hear my tv turn off she would wait about 20 minutes, i would doze off to sleep she would bang, slam, etc. A few of neighbors i was friends with would come to my apartment and listen to her bang they heard it too.
these people sound just like my neighbors. i've complained. they've thrown parties and moved i don't know how many people in and out of there and now they have an imbred little dog that runs laps above my head. i feel your pain.

I called police several times and reported to landlord. Nothing done, they are still here and i am moving next month!

I also have a noisy neighbour! I live underneath a noisy, inconsiderate bitch who insists on wearing her stupid high-heeled boots ALL THE TIME! She also has a dog, A rottweiler to be precise... Jeez girl, this is really frustrating. I know from experience, I have some noisy neighbors too, but these are really really noisy. I think the only solution to this problem is moving, for some peace and quiet. Living in a trailer-park is even more quieter than this. Or, set the apartment on fire.
Get yourself a cheap AM CB Radio with a 100+ power amp and aerial in your home then offset the SWR . Key the mike(transmit) for no more then ten secs at a time , This will cause a loud buzzing sound over there speakers drowning out there music, This will also drive them mad coz they wont know why its happening, Dont key up more then 10 secs at a time coz you could blow your amp or CB. God how i know ho it feels. In my case my landlady, nice but stubborn and getting deaf lady watch her tv fully loud (she lives downstairs) very early in the morning or late at night. In the end i'm going to work exhausted stressed. I'm looking for flat now with my partner and i hope we'll find something as quick as it's possible
As a side note: to get quieter apts, here's what you want to look for: properties that do not have 3 bedrooms, and have mainly 1 bedrooms, without pools or play areas, with smaller square footage (families like big apts), built between 1975-1990 (no old hardwood floors or new shoddy construction), with leasing agents onsite (instead of private "magically vanishing" landlords), with few (if any) bus stops nearby, and with condo-conversion of bigger units (apt familes often don't want to buy).
I was a leasing agent before going back to college and I always felt so badly for the people below noisy tennants. A law called Fair Housing prohibits landlords from being able to discriminate against families taking an apartment on whatever floor they want. The only way to avoid that law is to prove that they are a noise-issue prior to their move-in. Call your landlord as much as possible. Written violations might be sent to their next landlord when they move, helping the next neighbor/victims.

Wow, I thought I was the only one. My downstairs neighbor, who is a huge Spanish guy, plays loud vibrating damn music and I hear it perfectly in my apt. He also loves to grab at me and act like he is kissing me. Damn annoying. Police have been here over 20 times and the landlord keeps letting them do it. There is hope because the cops told me to file a complaint at the magistrates office and provide video evidence etc. I cannot wait.

elephants!!! i feel your pain. i live on the 2nd floor and somehow this "family" on the 1st floor are soooo loud that i can hear them stomping all over the place. And to top it off they party from Friday through Sunday every weekend!!
What I like to do is follow them around screaming "And now I'm going to the refrigerator!! Now I'm standing in the 2nd bedroom doorway and shifting my weight back and forth just to hear the joist's below me crack and pop. Now I'm going back to the fridge and doing a cannon-ball dive onto the floor!!"
Make ur own noise.... or have some type of communiction w/ ur neighbor. Hopefully, they don't feel annoyed by ur complaining, because that always seem to be the straw that breaks the camel's back or cause more of a problem.
I know in taiwan, they have a background and lifestyle check for people wanting to rent certain apartments. And they only allow inspection of these apartments if the people are quiet, tidy and nice for the community.
So they really look into your lifestyle before you can move in there. Which is good for everyone living there, hence the apartment price is high and always demanding.
it's so sad that some people just think they OWN the whole building when they live with 50 other units.
These people clearly have no concern for others.
With our building it's the same, they play music as loud as if they are having an open air live concert..... in a resedential apartment.
And they make it so everyone in the pool area could hear it... they have parties and invites 20+ more every single week. They sometimes are in the pool playing music even at 2am...
I live next door to some socially challenged people. They are adults but have the mentality of two year olds.
Also, they have many friends, who are the same way. When they all get together the noise is unbarable. Imagine trying to go to sleep in the middle of a sports bar at happy hour, and you get the idea.

I always, always, always rent apartment on the very top floor-requirement! My first apartment was under a pair of elephants who beat a path from their recliners to the fridge and it made me nuts-from that point forward I am the one making noise!
Get a couple of those Marpac white noise machines off of Amazon. They wont totally cover up loud noises but it keeps your attention in your own space rather than focusing on the people out of your control.
Mother elephant and baby elephant moved in above a few months ago. Apt complex is 4 story 5yrs old. Rarely hear voices but floors really suck when people walk on their heels probably comming from 1 level ranch house w/slab over earth where problem never shows up. I found a wav file of someone walking on a floor. Now I need a decent sub.:)
The voices sound subhuman. If you have subhumes next door, you need to move NOW! Can't tell you how many towns we've watched die, and how many times we've had to move, because we were in grad school, and really really needed to study and SLEEP. It is so infuriating when your wife is an intern physician...worked nearly to death...& you have to call your parents to get them to pay for a Hotel room, so that she can sleep away from noisy neighbors.

I hear ya. I have illegal day laborer neighbors who are rude and noisy as hell. I have talked to the manager and the landlord and they do not care. All they care about is the rent check. My landlord has a house in the country and doesn't have to put up with the bull I go through every day.
By last three neighbors, huskamut, do you mean that you've had to move three times in rapid succession? We've been there. Finally, we draped the bedroom walls in sound blankets (avaliable through industrial supply places), put down SIX layers of carpet padding, to acoustically isolate the bed, and draped the (canopy) bed in more sound blankets. That's the only way we were able to get our grad degrees/licenses. Lucky my Dad is a building contractor, and paid for all that. I'll pray for you.

I had a similar problem years ago. Loud neighbor. Absentee landlord. Direct contact wouldn't help, so I sued the neighbor in small claims and won monetary damages and a nuisance abatement which means to stop the noise. I then went and sued the landlord for allowing the situation. Monetary damages were prorated for every day of the month my rights to peaceful enjoyment were infringed. Make sure you document video. Tape the channel guide to document date and time. Good luck!
I think you are handling this very unfortunate situation very well. I was recently in a horrible living situation in my former apartment that I have moved out of. I cannot believe how discourteous people are these days. Luckily I have great friends and my best friend let me move into her huge house that is SOOOO quiet. you can't win in apartments, i have loud neighbors and i've tried everything from cops, landlord, talking to them, nothing, they still get drunk and play loud music, and have their TV on loud enough to just be annoying, It's a sad society when us people who want to be quiet are the "bad people" and the complainers.

I've called the property manager & the police but nothing has been done. They have even knocked plaster off the ceiling before!

I think they got evicted from there for noise, though. They've lived here since late September & we've been going through hell ever since. We get woken up all the time & rarely get any quiet time. exactly, that's what I'm going to do, I'm 16 and my baby brother who's almost 5 months old cant sleep because all she does is moan like shes being fucked by a mountain lion. Have exactly the same problem with my neighbors! You get woken up at 6am by the kids banging around, screaming, slamming doors and that goes on all day and then at about 10pm they start having sex and they'll do it like twice and when you think they've finished they start again off and on until 1am. Then at 6 the next day the kids start up again! What is the matter with people! lol

My family lives outside city limits where there is no fucking noise ordinance. The son of this family is an absolute cocksucker. He plows through the driveway at around 2:00 at night in his pickup truck. He has an automatic machine gun. I bet he goes through $200 of ammunition a week.
This has been going on for over four years. The parents haven't even moved in yet. They just let him do as he pleases with his white trash friends. This week he's been letting off fireworks till morning. AHHH!

It's outrageous because my 83 year old grandma owns about an acre of field (next to theirs) which is located beyond our lot, and we're forced to stay inside whenever they want to shoot. It's like people don't have the slightest consideration for other people but themselves anymore. It's BS because only within city limits is there a noise ordinance. I think if you live within so many feet next to someone, a noise ordinance should still be enforced. This world is fucked.

When i moved i had to transfer my utility bills over to the new address, Cable charged me another installation fee, Security deposit, Moving and Hauling etc. Also it seems to me like your landlord may be telling your neighbor to make noise to force you out, It benefits the land lord when tenants come and go they can go up on the rent.

Just got into an argument with my girlfriend about it, and the noise is really starting to make my life miserable! I get thunderous loud sporadic crashes and booms all day and all week long. My situation was just the opposite, I use to live on top of a noisey neighbor. I was 30 years old at the time, And the lady below me was in her 60's and she liked me, but because i didn't want her she would get mad and hit her ceiling which was my floor with a broom or anything heavy she could find. And it was loud i kept dark circles around my eyes for lack of sleep. The only solution was to move thank God i did.

And the neighbors were upset with me, Because it looked to them like i was fueding with a nice helpless innocent old lady. After the police would leave she would run and cry to the neighbors i heard her say once why is he doing this to me. She understood the situation and would laugh at me when i would see her on the elevator or coming in the building.

@mjaneson, Since she was on socail security she had a lot of free time. She would sleep all day when i was at work, I would get home about 6:00pm and she could hear me. She would wait and let me shower, eat a little something, watch tv. The minute she would hear my tv turn off she would wait about 20 minutes, i would doze off to sleep she would bang, slam, etc. A few of neighbors i was friends with would come to my apartment and listen to her bang they heard it too.

Get yourself a cheap AM CB Radio with a 100+ power amp and aerial in your home then offset the SWR . Key the mike(transmit) for no more then ten secs at a time , This will cause a loud buzzing sound over there speakers drowning out there music, This will also drive them mad coz they wont know why its happening, Dont key up more then 10 secs at a time coz you could blow your amp or CB. As a side note: to get quieter apts, here's what you want to look for: properties that do not have 3 bedrooms, and have mainly 1 bedrooms, without pools or play areas, with smaller square footage (families like big apts), built between 1975-1990 (no old hardwood floors or new shoddy construction), with leasing agents onsite (instead of private "magically vanishing" landlords), with few (if any) bus stops nearby, and with condo-conversion of bigger units (apt familes often don't want to buy).

I was a leasing agent before going back to college and I always felt so badly for the people below noisy tennants. A law called Fair Housing prohibits landlords from being able to discriminate against families taking an apartment on whatever floor they want. The only way to avoid that law is to prove that they are a noise-issue prior to their move-in. Call your landlord as much as possible. Written violations might be sent to their next landlord when they move, helping the next neighbor/victims.

Wow, I thought I was the only one. My downstairs neighbor, who is a huge Spanish guy, plays loud vibrating damn music and I hear it perfectly in my apt. He also loves to grab at me and act like he is kissing me. Damn annoying. Police have been here over 20 times and the landlord keeps letting them do it. There is hope because the cops told me to file a complaint at the magistrates office and provide video evidence etc. I cannot wait.

I know in taiwan, they have a background and lifestyle check for people wanting to rent certain apartments. And they only allow inspection of these apartments if the people are quiet, tidy and nice for the community.
So they really look into your lifestyle before you can move in there. Which is good for everyone living there, hence the apartment price is high and always demanding.

Also, they have many friends, who are the same way. When they all get together the noise is unbarable. Imagine trying to go to sleep in the middle of a sports bar at happy hour, and you get the idea.

Mother elephant and baby elephant moved in above a few months ago. Apt complex is 4 story 5yrs old. Rarely hear voices but floors really suck when people walk on their heels probably comming from 1 level ranch house w/slab over earth where problem never shows up. By last three neighbors, huskamut, do you mean that you've had to move three times in rapid succession? We've been there. Finally, we draped the bedroom walls in sound blankets (avaliable through industrial supply places), put down SIX layers of carpet padding, to acoustically isolate the bed, and draped the (canopy) bed in more sound blankets. That's the only way we were able to get our grad degrees/licenses. Lucky my Dad is a building contractor, and paid for all that. I'll pray for you.

I had a similar problem years ago. Loud neighbor. Absentee landlord. Direct contact wouldn't help, so I sued the neighbor in small claims and won monetary damages and a nuisance abatement which means to stop the noise. I then went and sued the landlord for allowing the situation. Monetary damages were prorated for every day of the month my rights to peaceful enjoyment were infringed. Make sure you document video. Tape the channel guide to document date and time. Good luck!

you can't win in apartments, i have loud neighbors and i've tried everything from cops, landlord, talking to them, nothing, they still get drunk and play loud music, and have their TV on loud enough to just be annoying, It's a sad society when us people who want to be quiet are the "bad people" and the complainers.
Just get some speakers point it towards their wall crank music at a time right before they pass out.

actually i am in therapy im currently on prozac just like the 60% of white people. I wouldnt need to be if i didnt live next to such scum. I admit i dont have the balls to say it to their face so the internet is the only way i can blow off some steam. Trust me, i aint the only one. TrexTony117, I hate to admit it but you are right! I have annoying, ignorant, rude, inconsiderate neighbors myself. The mexicans upstairs are HORRIBLE! They have about 10 people living up there & they never make their kids behave! We have to listen to screaming kids, pounding & banging noises 24 hours a day because these people don't work & never leave their apartment! I've called the property manager & the police but nothing has been done. They have even knocked plaster off the ceiling before!

Mexicans are the worst neighbors! I've been trying to find another place to move but haven't been able to find anything. We never get any sleep & have been putting up with these assholes for months now! They should all be kicked out into the street to live with the other animals. People like this don't deserve to have a home when all they do is harass & torment other people who have never done anything to them! I wish they would either get thrown out or move. My point exactly. Thats what i hate about them. If you try to tell them to quiet down like a civilized person does, they immediately get all aggressive and wanting to fight. Move out ASAP. Exactly, Nintengirl79! If these assholes upstairs from us want to make all that damn noise all the time, then they should move into a house or go back to the trailer park where they were before they moved here! I think they got evicted from there for noise, though. They've lived here since late September & we've been going through hell ever since. We get woken up all the time & rarely get any quiet time. Nobody will do anything about it so we are stuck dealing with it. It's a bunch of crap!

my downstairs neighbor....he has the loudest sex i have ever heard..morning, noon, and midnight....but when i make noise...they pound the ceiling/my floor...i try to walk lightly and avoid problems.....but they accuse me of stomping....well we will see next time they have sex..imma play the cheesiest music loud so they can shut up.....

exactly, that's what I'm going to do, I'm 16 and my baby brother who's almost 5 months old cant sleep because all she does is moan like shes being fucked by a mountain lion. It's only supposed to be 2 girls living upstairs but their boyfriends are over every night. The first night they moved in around 1 A.M. my door was shaking from them having sex, i don't even know what to do anymore, they stomp on the floor and jump up and down, they have kids up there too. It's like a god damn zoo up there.
