  • Suicide Grip, No spotter, 400+ lbs = Ingredient for snapping your SHIT UP!

  • good lord, nice effort there at the end.

  • lol nice vid man i'd slide further down the bench to avoid hitting the irons where u put the bar on

  • be fucking careful that 410 would crush you buddy

  • That was true heart right there... u r quite the beast!

  • Good god, how on earth were you able to dig that out? Really looked like you weren't anywhere near getting it and then all of a sudden it was as though you simply decided that you were going to lift it no matter what. That was a true max! Great work, man.

  • @Ludichris8531

Ha, ha...thanks. Yeah, I definitely worked for that one. I appreciate the comments.

  • That's indeed great bro! so long without any news from you...Ur last normal bench press max was 400 now 410 close grip, and you're much lighter! (u got to like 230 lbs right?), Nice! keep it up!

  • @fedegroxo

This is an old vid, but still the most I have ever benched. Hopefully I can change that in the next few weeks.

    Thanks for the comments.

  • DAMNNN

  • @sspainhour15

    Ha, ha...thanks for the comment.

  • How tall are you?

  • @ArtjomGlad

    5'10"

  • nice i know i couldnt lift that much my frind is 17 an he can do 410 but hes been lifting wieghts since he was 8 at tha moment im at 250 im goin 2 bump it up to 255 prob next week

  • @skater27048

Thanks for the comment. Good luck with your training...

  • get a power cage for your sake. dude seriously do that shit stat! cant believe you can bench that.

  • @umadcuzimstylin

There are spot racks on this setup...no need for a power cage. But thanks for the comments...

  • you need a spotter....that 410 lbs. comes back down on you....

  • @jozahoza

Spot racks are in place. Thanks for the concern though...

  • holy shit dude, nice. I'm still waiting for the day I make 3 plates.

  • what was your max when you were younger? i'm 16 and was able to hit 245 before hurting my shoulder, right now at 225.

  • @tassizzle

Not to sure bro - I never really maxed out when I was in high school. But I was lifting over 315 lbs for sure...I remember doing 275 lbs for 10 a few times...

  • GRINDER! damn man, that was a 10 minute rep at 410 ha stronggggg

  • @njstrongman32

Ha, ha...no kidding...this was an epic battle...ha, ha...hopefully I can lift a little more in the future. Time will tell though...

    Thanks for the comments.

  • I can see your fear at 410. I had an accident with 375 and I rolled it on my belt lol.

  • @MrAres87

Ha, ha....there is no fear here bro - I have spot racks in place and they are used often. Besides, 410 lbs isn't that much weight to have to take off your belt...ha, ha...

    Thanks for the comment though...

  • A funny thing happened today...I looked up the word WILL in the dictionary, and THIS LIFT popped up!

That is determination defined, my friend! Great stuff!

  • @BeantownDungplop

Ha, ha...thanks for the great comment.

  • Good job -- but what would you do if you got it down and couldn't lift? ..I always have this concern when benching solo and I end up lowering the weight usually...

  • @dunnski007

Thanks bro - I have spot racks in place if I need them.

    I appreciate the comment.

  • thats pretty strong benching 410 close grip. good job

  • @1980pirus

    Thanks man....hopefully more to come...

  • You must be able to do over 420 with a wider grip now?

  • @adamscott

Ha, ha....one would think...but for some reason I am stronger this way at the moment. We'll see if it stays that way in time.

  • damn good effort way to push through it

  • @krb0123

Thanks a lot bro - nice comments are always enjoyed!

  • bro bret the fact that you even pressed 410lbs with close grip blows my mind dude thats some seriously strong triceps you got bro good shit

  • @IAmJohnzor

Thanks bro - I appreciate that. Positive support fuels the fire for me!

  • @BRETZERR anytime bro that was an amazing lift in my opinion

  • Wow great triceps man. haha

  • @bosanac01

Thanks bro - I appreciate that.

  • Nice lift , doesnt matter how slow it was , at the end of the day you lifted it.

  • @HulkamaniaBrothur

Ha, ha....I hear ya....thanks man! I appreciate the support.

  • nice lift. For a second there it did not look like you were going to get 410.

  • @BODYBUILDER375

    Ha, ha....I hear ya....thanks.

  • bad warm-up

  • @maxis986

Yeah, maybe....it's still a work-in-progress....what are your thoughts?

  • Strong stuff! Way to push through that sticking point!

  • @BeantownDungplop

Thanks man - I appreciate that.

  • well if you don't count that 135x5 warm up then your intensity was very high at 332.5 lbs but with that 135x5 then your intensity for the day was 200.5lbs nice lifts tho i try and keep my volume low and intensity high it seems to work better for me

  • @murphy0847

Thanks for the comment - this seems to work best for me.

  • @BRETZERR yea what ever you'er doing is def working, i watched a bunch of your videos and all are impressive. it's funny my close grip is far behind my slightly wider than shoulder width grip

  • @murphy0847

I hear ya....that seems to be the case for most people. Not sure why I am different here...but hopefully I can bring my regular bench grip up to where it should be.

    Thanks for the positive comments.

  • damn , you brought that up despite the struggle! and you kept your ass on the bench all the time.. very strong!

  • @MXhm91

Thanks man - it felt pretty good - hopefully more to come.

  • damn, 410 and that was all tricep right there ahaha. NICE. close grip i could do like... 185? lol.

  • @MrXXXX01

Ha, ha...thanks man. I appreciate the comment.

  • son of a bitch...scary shit an hulk strength..lol

  • Ha, ha...thanks man. I appreciate that.

  • Good thing that wasn't 411lbs! Strong bench man.

  • Ha, ha....no kidding.....if it was 411 lbs there would have been no video! Ha, ha...

    Thanks bro!

  • nice job... very strong!

  • Thanks bro - I appreciate the positive vibes...

  • Strong as hell brother, how's regular flat barbell coming along? I'm guessing you're closing in on mid 400s?

  • Funny enough....I think they are about the same. Weird, I know....but that's how it is at the moment.

Hopefully I can get them both up into the 430 range by year end.

    Thanks bro.

  • that's pretty strong man i got kinday scared for u for a second ha lol nice man

  • Ha, ha....thanks man. I have spot racks in place, so I am fine.

    I appreciate the positive comments.

  • nice lift.

    do you squat?

  • @d1ez3

Thanks bro. I don't squat very much....I have done 445 lbs to a 14" box (not the greatest form). But hopefully I can start squating more and bring those #'s up....

  • Big lift! Great job Randy

  • @j0540212

Thanks Josh. Your 385 lbs looked real easy....won't be long before you are pushing this for a single. Keep up your great progress....

  • Damnnn

  • @Marpop18

    Ha, ha....thanks bro.

  • Great job, damn.

  • @Kamaka675 - thanks man - I appreciate that.

  • you are great man

  • @dannyneedshelp

Thanks for the nice comment - it's always appreciated.

  • god dam that was like a 15 second grinder!! Awesome work randy, double bodyweight close grip soon!

  • @WeightLifterNerd

Ha, ha.....yeah, I would have had that already if I didn't gain 5 lbs. Oh well, now I need 420 lbs I guess....by then I will need 430 lbs...and on and on it goes!

    Thanks for the support.

  • great figth!

  • @martin1106 - thanks bro! I appreciate the support.

  • Way to go bro, how the hell do you grind out those hard reps? never seem detirmination like that!! also judging by the colour you went im guessing a few blood vessals were burst in your face hehe. i think you could have 420 wide grip now1!!!!!!

  • @franco18grant

Ha, ha, ha....I saw your 375 lb close-grip and I was thinking I better get my butt moving on those or you are going to catch me....ha, ha....(just like the deadlift).

    Hopefully more to come...

  • dame dude great lift i beat that felt harsh

  • @280strongsick

Ha, ha....yeah, that was a tough one....for sure. Hopefully more to come...

  • NIIIIICE!!

  • @oooOsICKOooo - thanks bro!

  • again another great 1 rep i wonder how the hell u dont just say fuck it when u struggle lol. but u squeeze it out hard good job.

  • @lexus119

Thanks bro - I appreciate the support.

  • man 4 plates wow i bet you were happy i would have jumped up and screemed

  • @animallift2 - not 4 plates man! Come on....4 plates plus 5 lbs!!! Ha, ha...

Every lb counts big time bro! Hopefully 415 lbs soon!

    Thanks bro.

  • crazy with the suicide grip too

  • @xboxforsuckas

Thanks bro - slowly getting stronger....

  • I wish I had your lockout power...as soon as the bar stops moving for me, I don't have a snowball's chance in hell of finishing.

  • Ha, ha....thanks man. I appreciate that.

  • i think that was the slowest lock out in history.. lol

awesome work randy, thats the new PR right?

  • Thanks man - I have had slower....trust me. Ha, ha....

Yes, this is a new all time high for any bench pressing (close-grip or normal).

Hopefully there is more to come...

  • Great job!

    Stay natural buddy!

  • Thank you sir.....I appreciate the support.

  • Sweet.

  • Thanks C. Slowly moving up...

  • I knew after watching you hit 375 x 3 on the flat bench a week or so ago, you were ready for 410. Awesome lift & PR. You really have inspired me to FOCUS on close(r) grip flat benches. That, and moving my touching point on my chest up just a bit has provided positive results in just the last few weeks. I'm hoping to up my PR in a Powerlifting meet on 5/1/10, and your videos are really helping. Again, Congratulations on that BIG 410 !!

  • Thanks a lot my friend. Your support is always appreciated.

Yeah, that 375 lb triple felt really good, but that was with my wide grip. I think my wide grip is around 405 lbs or so and my close-grip is slightly stronger. I think I have 415 lbs on a good day (this was an okay day).

Good luck at your contest bro! Lift big!!!

  • great job randy! what's it? 75 more pounds till the world record? =P

  • Ha, ha.....yeah, something like that. I haven't been keeping track.

  • great strength! you sure do know how to stick with a rep man that was a grinder

  • Ha, ha....thanks bro. Nice to finally hit something over 4 plates. It's getting easier all the time....

    Thanks for the support.

  • Hey man way to go!!!! That was great buddy! That was a tough lockout but who care u got it.

    Great job Randy! 1000 stars!!!

  • Thanks Mark. I appreciate that. This wasn't a particularly strong day for me....so hopefully more to come.

I still have a lot of work to do to get to your level!

  • wth amazingggggggg!!!

  • Thanks bro - hopefully more to come!

  • You are the freaking KING of grinding out reps! 410 close grip is great!!!

  • What's your close-grip at these days? Can you beat 410 lbs?

It would be nice to have at least one movement on ya....ha, ha...

  • Comment removed

  • Cool....hopefully by then I will have hit 415 lbs at least...(I was happy to hit 410 lbs with my triceps still sore).

  • @BRETZERR

Doubt it. I have only done close grip once in the last 10 months and that was on day 2 of my recent volume block. I have 2 weeks of volume left, then three weeks of max intensity work where I can use singles, doubles and triples so I will make sure to give it a whirl and post a video of my attempt.

  • I will definitely have to hit at least 415 lbs by then because I know how you like to sandbag....

  • haha what the fuck ever. No sandbagging out of this dude. Trust me, with my new bodyweight I want to get into some new ground. I would say lets race to 415, but I dont know if I have even 405 close grip right now!

  • Ha, ha....

    You know it's true.

My goal is to try and keep my close-grips up with your regular bench. You have at least 415 lbs to 420 lbs in ya right now.

I think Mark will start feeling the pressure once you hit 425 lbs...ha, ha...

  • @BRETZERR

I am hoping for a 425 not this intensity cycle, but the follwoing one. So it starts in... ummm..... ahhh.... oh, 9 weeks! I would say this time around but just like anything I have to adapt to this new volume and shit. One I am conditioned for this I better pull ahead of viagara using Mark.

I think you should get your 1rm squat and dead up and do a raw comp. You would love the competition. It is an awesome addrenaline rush.

  • @jlinteris

I would love to if I can get those other #'s up. If I could deadlift over 600 lbs, squat over 500 lbs, and bench over 400 lbs consistently....then I would probably enter a contest, just to see how I do....

  • @BRETZERR 1500 pounds raw would be a pretty nice way to start off raw! Well rip it up and then let me know when you are ready. I know a powerlifting fed that has a lot of members in Edmonton and they train there and occasionally hold meets at the University. The guy who recently set the highest total in CDN history for single ply lives there. Just over 1000kg. Plently of strong guys in Edmonton and an awesome powerlifting facility.

  • @jlinteris

    Will do man....will do...

  • thats what im talking about bro... i welcome you too the 405 pound club.... YOU'RE ONE BAD DUDE... good shit....

  • Ha, ha....thanks bro....I actually hit 4 plates back in Nov. But I was happy to hit 410 lbs....hopefully there is more to come!

Thanks for all the support. I am slowly getting there....

  • Very well done, Randy. But man that was a really slow tough rep.

  • Ha, ha....you're telling me! Thanks for the comment bro!

  • idk if u noticed but u actually went slightly backwards on ur pr attempt before hitting it lol, great strength!

  • Yeah, I noticed....I haven't done close-grips since Nov, so I wasn't quite ready for the big weight! Ha, ha....

I am just happy I hit it.

    Thanks bro!

  • ur close grip isnt thattttttttt close,, lol

  • Ha, ha, ha.....great timing with that comment bro! This close-grip has my index fingers right on the smooth part of the bar.

My normal wide grip has my ring finger on the rungs. That's more than a hand and a few finger space difference (or ~8 inches).

But I just loaded a vid for guys just like you! Ha, ha....a 300 lb wrist crusher (close-grip with my hands touching).

    Enjoy.

  • why am i stilll subscribed to this asshole =p.

    jk.

  • .....because you love it! Ha, ha....

  • idk how you make prs every single time, especially since it seems youre overtraining. i envy you i feel like ill never reach 300 or gain weight.

anyway im uploading a stair jump pr.

  • @rctriplefresh5 its called oldman strength i think it starts at 25 because im starting to tap into it

  • @rctriplefresh5 Read Brooks Kubic's book, "Dinosaur Training." This guy is essentially doing exactly what is recommended, and you can see the results quite clearly! The strength comes slow. If your bench goes up 50 lbs in a year that's a good year! It only takes a few years to be pushing ridiculous weight when you take it slow and don't try to rush!

  • @rctriplefresh5

He is not overtraining. Overtraining is a word that gets abused by people that think that training when you are sore is overtraining. Olympic lifters train so frequent with heavy weights and large volume and make incredible progress. Look at Pat Mendes. Freakishly strong 21 year old kid on earth. 772 squat with no belt, no wraps and ass to the ground. He said he sometimes trains like 9 times a week! He is progressing fast so not overtraining.

  • would you consider me overtrained? you told me to stop lifting and to rest up. you said it was the key to my suiccess.

  • @RCTRIPLEFRESH5

I would not say you are overtrained at all. I would just say thast you are not custom to the stress you are putting on your CNS and your body. Randy is well conditioned to handle a large workload right now. He has been hitting a lot of upper body because of a sore lower back. He is getting to the point where he is training while sore and still rocking some PR'S. For you, you are trying to add bodyweight so I think resting and growing is a great plan.

  • well sure iwant to get a little bigger but my main goal is to bench 300 i was very close a year ago. i also want to deadlift 455 already as wwll. i think im overtrained cause im weaker now by far than i was in june of 2008!

  • See that doesn't mean you are overtraining, Dave, but not training smart. That is why I am giving you pointers on things I think will assist you in getting back some of the strength you had.

  • Thanks Dave. I appreciate the support, even when I am giving you a hard time!

    Keep with it bro....

  • very nice Randy! way to get that rep up!

  • Thanks T! I appreciate that....hopefully more to come. My tri's were a little tired on this (as you can tell by the lock-out).
