yah i can help, the #1 thing to do is to pick the grass that is farthest away and is not touching the edge, go to my video and look at my yellow lickitung i got with a 5 chain, im probaly the first to get that low of number to find a shiny pokemon, it took me five min to catch it

I was chaining for one last night. All of the chains broke around 20-30. (watching ur vid now i realize i should have used static) Then i got a chain up to 40 by randomly stepping in patches. (figures, when i don't care if it breaks it works) Finally after an hour of resetting i found the first shiny Voltorb! Ironically the second one came out after only 2 resets. Voltorb finally swarmed in my game and I chained it. I got 5 shiny Voltorb from that chain. But when I was trying to get the 5th shiny Voltorb, 2 shiny patches appeared at the SAME time! I never had that happen before.

Ah yes, and you needn't chain 40, nor do you need "Static" Pokémons in your party. That's gamer-superstition. You just need to "start a chain" (1 is enough), then run around, resetting your radar. Not sure how many times you reset your radar, after getting your chain to 40, but it took me 305 radar resets to get a shiny patch, with only 1 "chained".

I did the same, with only 1 in my chain, and still landed a shiny. I don't believe there's a system to it. Just the game generating a bunch of randomized data that will eventually select a shiny patch sooner or later. Some say they got a shiny patch, trying to chain but only made it to 2 before a shiny patch appread as the 3rd patch. Pure random IMO.

Yes it is random and i Understand this. However; is you have ever chained to large numbers the shiny patches appear much frequently. i have chained to 80 and i was getting shiny patches about every 2 minutes. this would be much harder had the chain been at lower number such as 10 or, as you say, 2. in my fire red version i have played for about 300 hours and have only seen a shiny once. it is random weather or not you chain to high numbers; the odds only get higher if you do.

Yah, hearing about peoples own experiences has me convinced that there IS such a "reward system" in the game.

Hearing that people find this many shinies when chaining near 80, my guess is that reaching 100+ would result in a "100%" shiny guarantee, if not, then really close to that.
