  • love it

  • I played with Cuba Gooding Sr. for 5 years in the early 90's and he still has that same amazing voice and does not change the key of anything he sang or sings. he is truly a marvel.

  • I totally forgot about this great song. of course I never forgot "everybody plays the fool" - I'm not that stupid.

  • i would love to hear eric roberson do a cover of this , it would so suit his voice:

  • This song makes me happy!!!! Love love this!!!!!

  • His other son played in Smart Guy and Baby Boy as Tyrese's friend the one that shot snoop! they both look like their father :)

  • 3 people are lonely!

  • Afros & bellbottoms!!

  • RIGHT NOW LISTENING TO THIS SONG, I JUST DON'T WANT TO BE LONELY!!!!!

  • Beautiful memories! Takes you back folks!

  • There's not enough talent around to make records of such quality today. We are really being stitched up where good music and tv are consurned. If it aint from a reality show they dont sing it or show it anymore.there is so much crap about. Its time the likes of Simon Cowell layed down and went to sleep.

  • That's Cuba Gooding Sr. his son looks like just like him Cuba Gooding Jr.

  • @ikoojlip1 YEP... LOOK AT THAT MOUTH

  • This may be the best pop song ever written

  • @VillaAgent That's not "pop music" Villa. That's pure R&B and soul music!

  • This is sweetr music that will never die

  • Bring it all back, some music can't touch this is tru soul music no remakes just keep it as it

  • Wow! I'm surprised that this one only has 200,000 hits!

  • Another soul classic of the 1970's that is forever beautiful / no matter how many other people try to sing it / CUBA GOODING TOOK CARE OF THIS SONG "once and for all " / HE SIGNED IT, SEALED IT, and DELIVERED IT, FOR ALL TIME !

  • Reminds me of my High School prom and those powder blue tuxedos with all the ruffles, boy we sure knew how to dress in those days..These kids wear regulars suits to proms, and the girls don't even wear gowns...How things have changed for the worse, especially in music and behavior...

  • Pure class, pure talent. MAKES you want to sing along AND slow dance with your sweetie! One of the great sounds from the 70s. Enjoyed this, thanks for posting!

  • LOVE this song!! REAL music! They don't make 'em like this anymore!

Cuba, Sr. was very handsome back in the day. Just my 2 cents. ;-) Great voice, too!

  • I remember when they were on American Banstand and sang this along with Everybody Plays the fool. Those sure were the days.

  • The lead singer is Cuba Gooding Sr., father of actor Cuba Gooing. Just an fyi. Thanks for the video. Great song.

  • The days when music was alive and kicking... When you could turn on your radio and listen to all of your favorite tunes, and not be embarrased like today. To hear the trash coming out of the radio except; for a few good artist..

  • this is not blue magic its the main ingredient

  • If they made music like this today, the youth of today would know what real music is.

  • Such a great song from the 70's . As agreed by most historians the 70's through the early 80's were the greatest period in the history of music period. I would have to agree and was lucky enough to have grown up during that period. They just don't make music like this anymore but todays artist, try so hard.

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!!

  • love this song !!

  • such a great song. the best of that period in my opinion. brings me back to my youth.

  • that great is remember and thank those who have the honor and wisdom to download these videos, we transpote the years lived and enjoyed most beautiful. very good, congratulations for this maracucho love with the music of the 60s and 70's. especially

  • no one could ever in there life love you more than me not even your mom.. squeeze help I am so happy that I feel like my face is going to crack in half.. Thank you Jesus Thank you God...

  • Every Sat. morning my brother and I would watch SoulTrain. Fun memories, helped me learn how to dance at the sockhops. Then soon after, heavy rock came in, The Doors, Hendrix, then, Woodstock. I wouldn't trade those years for anything.

  • I like cooby jr. as a actor but, I have to say the father is so much better looking than the boys, but they are truly as talented as the father but in a different way. I am glad he had the boys to continue his bloodline of talent

  • estupenda cancion!!!!! so fcking owesome! saludos people

  • Yeah, really...can't you tell, he looks JUST LIKE his daddy. Google Cuba Gooding Sr. they way he looks today and then, you'll really be able to see it.

  • So Cuba Gooding the actor is his son? Show me the money? No way, really?

  • @darrengerdude96 I know, right? Their voices and mannerisms are so much alike! I wonder if Cuba Gooding, Jr. can sing like his daddy.

  • That's my uncle...

  • Cuba Gooding Sr. is definitely one seriously happening vocalist. He sings is a very unusual on-the-verge falsetto. It always dances on the edge of it, sometimes venturing into falsetto, but only momentarily, He's got such a right-on sound. "Over you" is a rendition they do of Gary Puckett's hit song - jus gotta hear it, it is fabulous.

  • Loved this song wen it first came out

  • This best part of this song is toward the end when the fuzzed out guitar starts jamming along with Cuba Gooding. Ain't no jam like a good jam.

  • @3kingkool Absolutely!!! I love it when he says, "Lord, have mercy!" So great. What a great soulful singer.

  • What a fabulous song. What a great vocal group. C. Gooding Sr. was really a fabulous vocalist. The background vocalists were nothing short of fantastic. Check out these guys do their rendition of the song "Over You" - you won't believe it.

  • What's the singer's name? He's great...

  • Cuba Gooding Sr.

  • nice, thanks (I know, I know, coulda 'googled' it)

  • whooo CLASSIC! Brings back good memories...

  • I wish i was born in the 70's, 60's, Main Ingredient, Frank Sinatra, just to see videos or to hear the stories from my dad make me wanna live that period.

  • some one tell me who sang reggea version in 80's

  • I know one reggae version by John Holt but there may be others - If you haven't already, listen to TMI's 'happiness is just around the bend' my favourite of theirs.

  • Oops, it was actually Freddie Mcgregor who did the reggae version - but John Holt has covered just about every song on the planet so an easy mistake. Soz

  • @malleynea Freddy McGreggor

  • remember this well as a kid

  • GOOD TIMES GOOD JAMS TWEETY SB

  • Those were the days when talent was alive and living all over the world. Days long gone, with too few exceptions now. Pity!

  • One of my faves of all-time. the lead singer is Cuba Gooding Sr.

  • quiero agradecer infinitamente ala persona qwe colgo este maravilloso tema y qwe me permite verlos gracias

  • The lead singer kind of looks like Cuba Gooding Jr. He could pass as his Dad or Uncle.

  • it IS his dad

  • @HarryCockenbalz

Cuba Gooding, the lead singer of The Main Ingredient is the father of both Cuba and Omar Gooding.

  • Super clásico

  • This was the jam in the days: " I just want to be loooved and neeeded, depended on to give the love I cant give when youre goooone... "

  • Wish this song would go on longer -- luv it!

  • Agreed. It's terribly short!
