do you have to be logged in on itunes i put my ipod inDFU mode on itunes and the restore icon dnt pop up

hey boss i need some help i have an ipod touch but is locked and i try all the way to unlock, in my computer appear i tune could no conect to the ipod touch because it is locked with a passcode. you must enter your passcode on the ipod before it can be used with i tunes, but i cannot because mi ipod is in recovery mode
