@TG1986IRL It depends how the owner treats their car. I have a '98 BMW 3series 1.6 and they are finished to a high quality like most BMWs. The only car I would change it for is a bigger engined BMW. And who knows, maybe the other have been crashed or crashed into by another car :)

@shaheeneyal every french car I have seen on British roads has either been a chav mobile or is a smouldering wreck on the side of the road because the driver got distracted by people laughing at him for driving something french. The reason that he writes off a car down to its interior is because that is the place you spend most time in a car, unless you constantly are being abducted and are in the boot, if it isn't nice why would you want that car?
when i bought my E46 3 series coupe, i was torn between it and an IS300 both a stick and both very clean and looked right.. after driving the 2 i found that the bimmer outran outstyled out handled overall outperformed the IS.. so i bought it.. my favorite car iv ever had.. very very reliable handles amazing sounds amazing and has the pep to squat right through a curve or sit ya back and run in a straight line.. the IS is cheasy reminds me of a hot wheels car. and they get worse gas mileage.

@hallal55 I have read too many horror stories from disgruntled BMW owners who complain about the dubious reliability of their BMW's. However I would buy a BMW over an Alfa Romeo, because Alfa Romeo couldn't build a reliable car if their lives depended on it. The Lexus IS series are not toys, and nor do they look cheap, they are stylish, but most importantly extremely reliable and long lasting cars.

Metal on the dash or painted plastic? I've driven 3 E46 M3's now and all the "metal" had black plastic showing under the chips and scratches. Though, it does drive nice!

The 600 isn't a bad car though by any definition, just unlucky to be from the "Ronda Era"
(the period after the SD1 that gave Rover their Undeservedly bad reputation for Oldie Mobiles).

However i understand where you're coming from, the 600 was a well built car i can attest to that.
If only the 800 Fastback had inherited the FR Drivetrain of the Generation-2 SD-1 & the Inboard Rear Disc Brakes of the P-6, a sadly missed oppitunity i think.

@shaheeneyal every french car I have seen on British roads has either been a chav mobile or is a smouldering wreck on the side of the road because the driver got distracted by people laughing at him for driving something french. The reason that he writes off a car down to its interior is because that is the place you spend most time in a car, unless you constantly are being abducted and are in the boot, if it isn't nice why would you want that car?

when i bought my E46 3 series coupe, i was torn between it and an IS300 both a stick and both very clean and looked right.. after driving the 2 i found that the bimmer outran outstyled out handled overall outperformed the IS.. so i bought it.. my favorite car iv ever had.. very very reliable handles amazing sounds amazing and has the pep to squat right through a curve or sit ya back and run in a straight line.. the IS is cheasy reminds me of a hot wheels car. and they get worse gas mileage.

i have an e46 3 series coupe and its my favorite car iv ever had... very reliable, sounds amazing handles like a champ and still has enough pep to lay into some corners and go by alot of stuff.. i was thrown between 2 cars when i bought it... an IS300 and my bimmer.. the bimmer out performed out styles and overall out dirves the IS300 hands down. period.

are built to have stronger transmissions and engines for the autoban and stuff....

@hallal55 I have read too many horror stories from disgruntled BMW owners who complain about the dubious reliability of their BMW's. However I would buy a BMW over an Alfa Romeo, because Alfa Romeo couldn't build a reliable car if their lives depended on it. The Lexus IS series are not toys, and nor do they look cheap, they are stylish, but most importantly extremely reliable and long lasting cars.

Metal on the dash or painted plastic? I've driven 3 E46 M3's now and all the "metal" had black plastic showing under the chips and scratches. Though, it does drive nice!
