You know, I first saw this movie around the summer 2005, but at the time I didn't think too much of it other than "Interesting."
Through a series of coincidences related to music, I ended up watching the movie again in October 2008. Even though I hadn't seen the movie in over three years and hadn't even thought of it in that time, beyond all belief, I still distinctly remembered the first four notes of this song that play when you hit "Play" on the DVD menu.

This is my all time favourite movie..There is so much I can relate to in this film and it truly is a beautiful movie. Penelope Cruz is the dream girl that I fall in love with myself in this movie, even though he never really knew her in real life everyone longs to find a love like that.
The scene where he draws her and Peter Gabriel 'Solisbury hill' is played is amazing.
the whole movie is a dream, the proof being that sophe is the very 1st voice to say at the begining of the movie (b4 he even know her as a character) in spanish open ur eyes. lucid dream after the accident or not he couldnt have possibly know her voice b4 he met her
Rich boy takes everything for granted.. and when he finds someone he can truly love, its all taken away from him. When he wakes up, he can now truly appreciate everything that life has to offer.
Everything that happens after he is in the crash is a dream. He is in a coma the entire rest of the movie until he wakes up at the very last second before the credits begin.
Throughout the whole movie (his dream), he is constantly hearing people tell him to "open your eyes." These voices are, in fac,t coming from people in the hospital trying to wake him up. When his eye open at the end, Sophia will be waiting for him in the hospital and his face will be fine.
Ha, all these comments. I was 15 when this movie came out in theaters and it truly changed my life. I was young, lovesick and vulnerable. This movie seemed like it was made for me, and the revelation of the last 10 minutes was so utterly heartbreaking. I'll never forget the impact this (sorry, I have to say this) relatively mediocre film made on me. It helped inspire my love of film.
I'm sad about how long I have to wait for a girl falling in love with, I wish I could think about another girl, but I only know Marlene and so can't almost stop to thing about her, when i feel to hear music like this to enjoy, most of the time for me is love painfull wish without becomin reality.
I have to forget Marlen to be happy, but this is only possible, when I recognise another girl, but unfortunetly its difficult to recognise another girl, the most of them aren't interested

To me, this movie has meant alot. In a sense, an eye-opener. If you liked this movie alot, I believe you should see The Peaceful Warrior. the concept is not quite the same, but the insight into personal morals and values play the same.
I love Penelope and Tom's chemistry in meeting one another and discussing silly/nonsensical things. I hope I come to acquire a love like their's one day. Not as short-lived though. just a relationship that inspires...and brings out everything=)

Such a powerful, powerful movie. Thanks for the interpretive video. It is beautiful. Like and onion, the layers of this movie just peel off and the more that you find that you find relative to yourself within the story line the more another layer shows you even more. I find myself when I am most lost, needing to watch this movie again for my own personal reminder of what life is all about. Are we not all living our own lucid dream of one kind or another? Where is the line drawn between?

i love this movie.. when i first saw it i couldn't stop watching it.. made me realize a lot of things...
and i guess i have alot of favorite scenes...but the one @ 2:12 when he sees her for the first time.. classic shot.. you never forget that first time you see someone and they .....just .......they got ya. =)

in my opinion there are at least 1000 best parts of this movie - my girlfriend just quit yesterday and this movie is killing me right now - makes me dream of true love and romance while I lost this believe a long time ago when I turned 17 oder 18 and realized the real life and love...

This is my all time favourite movie..There is so much I can relate to in this film and it truly is a beautiful movie. Penelope Cruz is the dream girl that I fall in love with myself in this movie, even though he never really knew her in real life everyone longs to find a love like that.
The scene where he draws her and Peter Gabriel 'Solisbury hill' is played is amazing.

My perception of the movie is this:
Everything that happens after he is in the crash is a dream. He is in a coma the entire rest of the movie until he wakes up at the very last second before the credits begin.

Throughout the whole movie (his dream), he is constantly hearing people tell him to "open your eyes." These voices are, in fac,t coming from people in the hospital trying to wake him up. When his eye open at the end, Sophia will be waiting for him in the hospital and his face will be fine.

Ha, all these comments. I was 15 when this movie came out in theaters and it truly changed my life. I was young, lovesick and vulnerable. This movie seemed like it was made for me, and the revelation of the last 10 minutes was so utterly heartbreaking. I'll never forget the impact this (sorry, I have to say this) relatively mediocre film made on me. It helped inspire my love of film.

I'm sad about how long I have to wait for a girl falling in love with, I wish I could think about another girl, but I only know Marlene and so can't almost stop to thing about her, when i feel to hear music like this to enjoy, most of the time for me is love painfull wish without becomin reality.
I have to forget Marlen to be happy, but this is only possible, when I recognise another girl, but unfortunetly its difficult to recognise another girl, the most of them aren't interested

To me, this movie has meant alot. In a sense, an eye-opener. If you liked this movie alot, I believe you should see The Peaceful Warrior. the concept is not quite the same, but the insight into personal morals and values play the same.
I love Penelope and Tom's chemistry in meeting one another and discussing silly/nonsensical things. I hope I come to acquire a love like their's one day. Not as short-lived though. just a relationship that inspires...and brings out everything=)

I once thought that if I was just to go to sleep and not wake back up,just live the life I wanted in a dream,I thought that would be the most wonderful thing,but whats the worth in doing that if you know that the people your with areant really feeling what you are.They wont be able to feel the true love that you are.You just have to make the best out of life couse a dream iseant the same as the real thing you want to feel.

It really does bring out emotions that otherwise would lie dormant. It's powerful and moving and many of the films critics can't see that.

There is something about THIS movie. It captures the frailty of humans emotionally and physically and how no one is immune to it even the wealthy "top of the world" character Cruise plays. And to be honest this song hammers that whole feeling home. GJ Nancy Wilson.

wow!! i had a lump in my throat the entire time! you have really captured the essence of this movie! amazing job. have been in love with vanilla sky from the day i seen it :) has a feeling to it i cant explain :) but the looks between the 2..those moments...how he looks at her vice versa ..its more than a movie.. its a love affair lol :p hard to find movies that have the effect as this one does..truly amazing! and really well done on the video mrsbalboa!! was beautiful.
