@CULTUREOFMUSIK ofcourse you can (im not sure if you mean Traktor Pro, or Traktor Scratch Pro, but you will need scratch pro), you use a Audio 6/8/10 DJ interface. You connect the outputs from your turntables to the soundcard and you connect the soundcard to TSP. Then you set TSP to external mode (to use 'external' mixer) and route the outputs from the Audio Interface to DJM2000. So:

Turntables -> Audio Interface -> TSP (external mode) -> audio interface -> DJM2000

I can say that coz i also have an FX 5000 and to be honest an "old" DJM-909 or the 600 is far better than the FX 5000. Don't missuderstand me, i love the 5000 but if i could replace anytthing that would be my mixer.

It is the bottle neck of my gear..... i just can't afford anything better.... :(

Price on high end pioneer stuff makes most of us really really really really sad.......

Pioneer is good but way over priced you only see it in popular clubs because poular clubs rake in the dough.

It's "your" sound if you mix up to 4 audio sounds plus self made loops to an live produced remix! Digital mixing brings such a mass of advantages which makes Dj-ing a real kind of art.

Djm 2000 says it can connect 2 laptops via pro link with both running Rekordbox. Can this work with Traktor pro on laptop A and say Abletion live 8 on laptop B? with both softwares in sync?

According to Numark the X7 can connect two laptops or pcs with sync tempos under the 2 usb performance> X7 contains two USB interfaces, which enables two DJs to connect computers simultaneously....... X7 can even sync tempo between the two laptops.
