  • wats the title of the song 10:24 - 10 :40 ?

  • @mattyhall88

Matty, I'm sorry to say I don't know. I know some of the words, but don't remember the name of the tune. If you know a piper, ask him or her. It's a very well-known tune among the Scottish bands. -G

  • @mattyhall88

It is the "2/4 March"! You have the song on it here: Scotlands Great Highland Bagpipes

  • @mattyhall88

It is a compilation with best or most played bagpipe songs! ;-)

  • @mattyhall88

    It's Green hills of Tyrol

  • @mattyhall88 The Green Hills of Tyrol

  • so one is actually scottish there?

  • @MrScotland262

Funny thing about that. As I'm sure you know, there are many, many more people of Scottish descent outside of the UK than in. For several generations, people were largely happy to ignore the land of their ancestors, and adopted the country (America in my case) as their native land, as if we had sprung directly from the soil here. In the past thirty years or so, Scottish heritage has become much more interesting to many people. Visit our games when you can!

  • @TNGEO

Ahh, sorry i was just surprised that the highland games take place in so many other places. Never been to the USA before but im going this next year in march, looking forward to it.

    looks good fun over there!

  • @MrScotland262 Well, it's a big country. I spent 6 weeks in Scotland when I was 17, and still didn't see all of it. Never got to Aberdeen, or the Outer Hebrides. Maybe later. So sad that most Americans seem to go to Edinburgh and think that's it. Like going to NY and thinking that's America.

  • @TNGEO ha ha true, I live in a tiny town called Keith which is about 1 hour and a bit a way from aberdeen. Just all country side that surrounds us.

But the place thatI recommend for you to when you next visit scotland is Skye.

Very beatiful place. My favourite place in all of scotland. You have to go there!

Glazgow is also a very good place to go as there is constant street acts for your entertainment. Not missing much in Aberdeen though lol.

  • @MrScotland262 Actually I spent a glorious 3 days in Broadford. Here's me admitting to my gray hairs: it was in 1972. I was turned away from an overcrowded hostel, and a gentle brickey from Alford offered me a stay in his minute caravan. He didn't touch a drop during the week, but luckily it was a Friday evening! Barn dance in Kylochan (a returning Scot wore a kilt), pubbing, oh, grand! BTW, by email address is GWBScott@knology.net. I also enjoyed a small Highland Games at Loch Earn Head.

  • I plan on competing in next year's Highland Games here in South Carolina. God, I sure do miss Tennessee, though. Home sweet home. Thanks for posting the video. Virtute et labor!

  • This was a great video, but a little disappointed that you showed none of the entertainment tent. Come on Bob Valentine has been here every year even before it moved to Maryville. He is awesome! Collin too, we love him. Every year there are great bands like Albannach or Cut Throat Shamrock. You should of showed everyone that part of the fest. Maybe next year.

  • @tjagscott Yeah, I think the entertainment could have its own video. Next year would be great to do that. This one is meant as an introduction to 'games for uninitiates. Thanks for your feedback. -G

  • USA, Kentucky.

  • @jessejamesnedkelly

Thank you, Jessejamesnedkelly. Where are you located? USA?

  • VERY AWESOME!

  • @Baird1971

Thanks, Baird. Where are you located? USA?
