  • 1 day it will all be worthless money/silver/gold

  • Numismatics all the way! Especially Canadian Maples highest currency value at $5 real currency. Good luck trading at trading 1000/oz bars to stores for food. They don't own smelters and that hunk of metal will be hard for them to barter or sell off so that will stop them from accepting it. This of course is in a survival situation.

  • Bullion only for me. Not buying numismatic coins.

  • I've been weighing up whether to get into Silver Snowball or Numis Network, and have been looking at both sides of the coin (pun intended). I figure that it comes down to people's own reasons why they want silver (either to get into collecting precious coins, or to hedge against hyperinflation).

Frankly I don't know anything about the art of coin collecting, & if things go to hell then the spot price is what will matter there and then.

  • I believe premiums carry a bit of a risk. By that I mean you may or may not get them back if you choose to sell. It depends on the scenario, and right now we're not sure what's going to happen in the next months/years. That said, I agree, if you enjoy something and you can afford it, go ahead!

Thanks for your comment on my numismatic video.

    5* nice kiwi coin!!

  • You know that New Zealand coin you showed in your vid, that token for opening the bank account, You sure thats silver? I had a look on trademe ( New Zealands version of Ebay ) And I found a couple for sale but both were made of bronze, one of which was for sale for just $5 NZD, maybe they made some in silver as well? I don't know, couldn't find any silver ones anyway.

  • @Excidium567

Yeah, there were a lot of bronze ones given out, but you had to open a new account to get the silver ones. There were a lot fewer. I don't know much about it, but I HAVE found it in coin catalogs before. I believe it has a pretty high collector's value if you can find the right buyer, as there probably aren't many still around.

  • I still have a soft spot for numismatics and bullion, just not for their premiums. Don't short sell JUNK SILVER - often the only opportunity to get the shiny white below spot DELIVERED!!!

  • i also agree with your hobby idea....the more i buy the coins.....the more i feel i want to buy variety - every coin just has something intrinsically beautiful about it....and i know when i buy - its fiat money well spent!!...actually i was wondering about the 925 sterling coin variety.....many other countries....poland amoung them produces amazing amounts of collectable series....all 925 silver!!...any thougths on whether these are good purchases???

  • Yea the variety is part of what got me as well, Cause just continually buying the same old bullion coins had stopped being exciting or even interesting - It was just like going through the motions.

I'm still going to get bullion but with the occasional numismatic thrown in I think just to keep silver interesting until the price goes berserk - then I think I'll have no problem being interested or excited about it.

  • Oh and I can't take credit for the hobby idea, that was in Mike Maloneys book.

No idea if those 925 collectables would be a good buy, depends how much they want for them and how many were minted etc, Just stick with the hobby idea - If you like them, buy them, then you won't mind if you can't find someone to sell to for more than you paid.

  • Yes, I am not sure why they get fancy with silver/gold coins. Especially when they paint them.

  • I was meaning more like why put 99% gold (thats what 24k is) on an only 92.5% silver coin, on a 99% silver coin makes more sense.

Or putting maybe 18k gold on sterling silver also seems more logically.

Putting pure gold on unpure silver kinda seems like polishing an old pair of shoes to me, if you know what I mean?

  • just following on from my comments yesterday - had a think about this idea you have a bit more and numismatic coins may very well take off ....but really only for those who have the luxury of owning numismatic variety now - those who get in late will not really worry about what is on offer as long as they get something!!! my gut still tells me when the panic happens - noone is really going to be worried about the artwork - just the purchasing power the coins offer and the basic value they store

  • I tried voting but my votes don't show up anymore??

Anyways nice collection my friend and I agree with you on certain things but I kinda feel like the other poster under me.

I aim for purity followed by volume and of course a Gov. minted coins are always great to get at spot!

Us silverbugs ought to start trading between each other, for example I can get you all Canadian coins, the purest silver & gold coins in the world!

    good luck to all!

  • @connectingdots1 Canada isn't alone on that claim, New Zealand also produces .9999 silver fern coins.

If not sure on the purity of our gold as I'm not a gold buyer, that wee maybe an 8th of a gram of gold on the coin I show in this video is the extent of my gold holdings lol.

  • personally I prefer buillons, since you get more silver for your bux. When things are bad people aren't going to care about numismatic value....but if you are a collector than that's another story. If you can get numismatic coins for the same price as buillon (which I have been able to do sometimes) than definitely the numismatic.

  • Your in New Zealand but sound like an Aussie ? Nice coins Mate!

    Salam

  • @AJMAN2304 Nope, I am in New Zealand but I sound like a kiwi, some might say the two accents sound the same but if you were to spend any length of time in either county then move to the other you would hear the difference.

  • Numeristic silver pwns bullion. Correct .900 coins are often worth more, or have a higher premium than .999 Bullion. IF you can get it cheap, i'd go with coins, and i've noticed that bullion prices are often jacked up.

Good vid, keep the S-P coming!
