  • The thing is, it's a lot easier to develop your talent and build your skills when you're enthusiastic about what you're doing. Over time, it's hard to push yourself hard, if you're going against your own nature.

  • talent and ability is as important as passion is in't?

  • I really like this video - it is so true.

  • @annegret1985 - u cud b in the CIA...

  • @ankursalsa haha

  • I know a lot of examples when an unlikely childhood occupation turned into a job. Or if not a job, a deeply held hobby. Hide and Seek....maybe you can find other grown-ups who would want to play.

  • Well this is interesting. I just came across this video from a suggestion on my home page here on YT. I love this idea for a resolution. I know this was for late January/early February this year, however, this is making me want to go back in my mind to figure out what did I enjoy doing for fun at 10 years old? Hmmm.....

    Thanks. ~Tameko~

  • Hmmm - can you turn playing Hide and Seek into a job?

  • But that's no way to determine a career. Ones childhood hobby seldom translates into a way to make a living. Walter Murch is an exception.

  • @RickWolff It may not translate to a Vocation, but it can very well be an Avocation. Which is to say it can be a source of joy and meaning in one's life, even if you don't earn a penny off of it. Bertrand Russell wrote a great book called "The Conquest of Happiness". In it he mentions a friend whose hobby of collecting cigar bands (!) brought him great happiness and serenity. It may sound silly to you or me...but not to Russell's collector friend.

  • @lakewalker11 That's a psychosis, not a source of joy.

  • Wonderful book, wonderful project. I loved to to decorate my doll houses and run around outside and collect nuts and leafs and stuff and turn them into artwork, I used to turn chestnuts and toothpicks into animals. Marita Steffe

  • i was just reminded: what i do for a living and my youtube channel, is exactly what i did at 10 years old. i used to love cutting out of magazines and paste it into a collage and that is why i am so fascinated by editing and film!

thanks for reminding me and for your video/channel.

    namaste, anita goa :-)
