V-Ray for SketchUp Material Basics

hi! i have a problem. when opening the material editor i do not get to chose add material, just create, load material and a bunch of different options but no add. big problem!

Thanks for tutorial. but can you say why is it so that when I set Parallel projection the reflection doesn't work and the sky doesn't reflects in the glass????

many of us have the same problem with vray material and In Model material... when applying vray material, it doesn't add on the In model material... can anyone help us with this?

@kimmie778 i think this is might happening to you guys...

this trick work in version 1.0.5.3 to 1.48.83 not on 1.0

Just add the vray material in the vray material editor, in thet material got to diffuse layer,

the go there where you choose the diffuse bitmap and click update, now you should see the texture shown in sketchup and in your model to edit.

Hi. Don't know if you could help me.

When I put sketchup materials or colors in my model. It doesn't add it to my vray material list. So I can't edit them and make them look nice when rendering. Do you know why it does this? I never had this problem before, but now it does this. I have google sketchup pro 6 and vray.

Thanks for great introduction to vray! I also have problem with material connection. Materials from vray dont show in sketchup. Is it possible that vrayforsketchup6 may not go with sketchup7?

i'm just starting to learn vray... my model is big, but when i render im hoping to see my window rendered with shadows, instead i get a blank rendering with a smudge in the middle, which might indicate that it has zoomed out

May be you have an old version of V-Ray.

In the new version, when you made a material

in V-Ray, the material is automatucaly created

in Sketchup.

man your default rendering with no materials in the beggining is waaaaaay better than mine here

Materials applied to groups/components makes VfSU render smooth geometry faceted. Instead apply the material to the faces directly.

Exploding applies the group material to the faces with default material - ensuring the material is only applied to the group.

Key reminder: NEVER apply material to the group/component. ALWAYS apply to the faces directly.
