Anybody ever wonder how the word "secession" got morphed into "rebellion"?. After all, for example Ordinances of Secession were intrinsically legal, unless and until ruled on by SCOTUS. People seem to forget that not only were many of our founding fathers slave owners but that at that time there was almost no notion anywhere that blacks were even human. Hmm I got mine off of his 1861 inaugural address. When people actually cared at all about what he was going to do with slavery because only then was he in a position to do anything at all about it. By that I mean maybe try and push for the complete abolition of it. Of course he didnt which is very strange. Why didnt he push for such legislation in 61 or 62? Lincoln did make a pretty pro-slavery and anti-black speech in 1858 though.

Was the right to own slaves in the U.S. made up ? There is nothing that I can find holding the original Bill if Rights that allows someone to own another person. On Ebay I bought a replica of the Original United States Bill of Rights and Constitution dated 1789 it says in:

" Article the seventh [5th Amendment]

No person shall be... deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law;.. "

The Bill of Rights does not say anything about the right to own slave persons.
