Since this console version of Initial D is based on arcade ver. 2, then I'm surprised to see "Speedy Speed Boy" as a selectable BGM. That song wasn't available in the arcade until Initial D Arcade Stage ver. 3 was released. Are there any other songs from arcade ver. 3 that were included on that console version too. Are all the songs from arcade ver. 1 and ver. 2 available in this game?
Only some of ver 3 songs are included (notably missing are the songs that play by default on Tsuchisaka if I spelt that correctly). All of Ver 1 and 2 songs are in though.
@AgentBLT which songs are from Initial D arcade stage ver. 2 that weren't on Initial D arcade stage ver. 1? Did version 2 arcade have all the songs from version 1?
@Hyperrifle14 not give you some pirate advise, but you can download the game and the emulator and play it. Mine its not full smoth but i like it. And another thing: in 3 part of the story game you play with both Project D drivers: takumi and keisuke. This game is perfect!
That a classic, i used to own this game.There more stages than initial d extreme stage PS3.In this ps2 initial d game my favourite cars are FD3S, DC2, S2000 Bunta WRX and the Takumi high rpm AE86.From what i see you need to get your gear shifting points correct that it.This game really depends a lot on your gear shifting point in manual mode.
@kkisdaman Yes if you are a fan of Initial D and like the sound of online play. Otherwise, compared to other console versions, I find this game to be barebones. Just arcade, time trial and go online really. The game goes up to the "God Hand and God Foot" part of the manga, so it is more updated. They did add car customization and the ability to make "yourself" as an Initial D character (you're a drawing that the game makes). Again, get it if you're into Initial D. Regular people won't like it.
@kkisdaman Sorry, I ran out of comment space. What I meant is that if you haven't played Arcade Stage 4 before, you'll notice that the physics are very different than this game (aka, anything before and including arcade stage three). The most notable physics changes are that the game tends to oversteer more (it doesn't feel quite as "grip" as this one) and turning makes you decelerate unlike in this game where it's constant. Good thing there's difficulty settings.
@kkisdaman Well if you want a rough estimate of how long the load times on Extreme Stage are, you can watch my Extreme Stage gameplays to get a rough estimate. It's kind of painfull that every single screen needs to load unlike this one. It kind of aggravates it more when after every single little change you make, the game needs to save and that takes some time as well. I'm not stopping you from getting the game though. It's not too bad, though it definitely takes some time to adjust to physics.
1. Extreme Stage was translated into English? Since when? Unless you're counting the arcade, this version does NOT have English. I can't read Japanese either. I can read some Chinese which is why I can kind of guess at some words here and there. You really don't need to know Japanese (unless you want to get the full enjoyment of the specials in the game such as the Manga scenes) in order to play this game.
2. That would be difficult to say. I got this game when I was in Toronto one day in which a certain Retro game store carried it. Otherwise, you'd have to import it (via Ebay, PlayAsia, etc.)

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that ver 2 had all of ver 1 music plus a little bit more.

WHERE DO I GET THIS
Hyperrifle14 7 months ago
@Hyperrifle14
Two words. Play Asia.
Or eBay works too. If you're lucky, maybe your local independent retailers (like where I got mine) sells import games.

I never really bothered trying. I know that at higher level play, it's extremely important, but I never bothered looking up the shift points.

You think the load times are long on here? The game takes WAAAY longer if you play extreme stage for the PS3.
