  • Hey! Did they finally find their sister?

  • Chévere! Nice!

  • This was one of my favourite shows from this era .It was bewildering to me that the series ended so inconclusively .Many people still have great regards for The Quest even today !

  • What a great surprise to find this show that I LOVED from my childhood. Thank you so much, for posting!!

  • I loved this show! I was young, just out of college, and fell so in love with Tim Matheson. I still smile when I see him. This was a really wonderful program. Wish we could get DVDs of the episodes.

  • I LOVE YOUTUBE! I've been waiting for years to see a glimpse of this show again. MAJOR crush on Tim's character! As I recall, the set design and cinematography were really outstanding. Let's start a campaign to make this available on DVD. :-)

  • I loved this show and was really disappointed when it was canceled

  • this is my favourite show and i could never find anyone who remembered it, cab you get it on dvd

  • Damn I always wondered whether they found their sister or not, or whether I missed that final episode because my dad kept sending me to bed early. Well from the entries below I now know they never did find her and they never even finished the series. I reckon they should make a tv movie on how they found their sister and wiped out all the Sians Indians...Rambo styleeeee...lol

  • I'd love to see a re-run! I was late teens when this was showing in Australia - Tim Matheson was such a spunk I was devastated the few times I wasnt able to watch the show - and we didnt have a video recorder either. When I started Nursing and was living in the nurses home I had a poster of Tim on my wall in my room. :)

  • I seem to recall ithe series just stopping suddenly on UK TV, because Mary Whitehouse campaigned that it was too violent, so it got banned from our screens.

  • I recall that, too. Probably dropped because of "It's a Knockout" or Kim Basinger's show, "Dog and Cat" :)

  • where can i buy dvd or vhs of the series

  • I used to love watching this on a Friday night when l was young. I'd sit down with my dad and have Wagon Wheels and Toffee Popcorn. Missed this and never got to find out if they ever found their sister in the end. I'd love to watch them all over again.

  • you must be around 40yrs old then , i used to watch this too

  • I recently got some DVDs of the show on a whim. I did remember the show vaguely and have always loved Tim Matheson, and friends said the show was good. I've watched all the episodes and have been surprised how good the shows were. They really dealt with a lot of political issues. Does anyone have the last unaired episode, "Incident at Dutton's Cabin"--I think is the title. Also, there are 4 episodes available professionally, The pilot/ The Captive, (on VHS) and The Longest Drive (DVD).

  • hi would you be posting any of the episodes as i too used to love this shoe

  • Yes, I would love to see these episodes again as well. Nice western, and I was sad when it was cancelled. I had a crush on Tim Mattheson. Kurt Russell was just not my cup of tea with all that blonde hair. Give me the Kurt Russell from "Executive Decision" now that is breathtaking . He was gorgeous dressed in that tux.

  • IIRC, they did. Sis was played by Susan Dey ("The Partridge Family") and she thought of herself as an Indian and didn't *want* to be accepted into the non-Indian world, which was fine by them. (I hope I'm not mixing it up with a similar story line from something else.)

  • I'm afraid they didn't. Two Persons was bitten by a snake, and Quentin became a political animal, vice president of the united states... But they never found thei sister... A shame !!!

    ; -)

  • Im from Scotland and used to love watching this series on BBC1 on a Saturday night in 1976

I couldnt believe it when I heard that it had been cancelled in th US. I was so upset

I always thought this series had a The

Searchers quality about it and only being 13 yrs old when The Quest came out, it was sadly one of the only (and last) Western Series that kids of my age ever got to view, as we were too young to view the 60s Golden Age of Western television shows.

    Thanks for posting this.

  • like you i loved this western series but was definately on afriday night on bbc1, because i watched it on return from swimming training

  • Does anyone have the actual episodes of this they can post???

  • I loved this, but did not realize it was cancelled, why!!i spent ages looking for it,

  • As a kid I fell in love with Tim Matheson when he joined the cast of The Virginian in its 8th season. Still enjoy his work both in front of and behind the cameras to this day. Loved this short-lived series in '76, and seeing your post last month prompted me to purchase The Longest Drive from Amazon. I was not disappointed with the results. It may only be two episodes (8 & 9) of the series, but rekindled some great memories. Hope one day a DVD of the entire series is released.

    MANY THANKS

  • When this show debuted in the late 70's, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Kurt and Tim were so gorgeous. My sister, my girlfriend and I were positively glued to the set for the two seasons it aired. We were devastated when it was canceled. It was re-scheduled all over the place, deemed the "most violent program on tv", shuffled everywhere and then canned. Terrible. Anyway, it led to a more than 30+ year-crush I've had on Kurt Russell.

  • kurt is cousin to a young lady I WORKED WITH at a Wendy's in the 90's. He/they were hunky.

  • @Peppi94

    Same here!!!! :-)

  • FANTASTIC!!!! Can't believe that this has been posted. Young boys of a certain age (42) will be reliving their childhood. I remember the show being stopped in the UK because of bad snow in Buffalo and they couldn't get the tapes. I even wrote to the BBC saying that surely the snow must have thawed! I was about 10. Thank you. Thank you. Merci beaucoup mom ami!!

  • You're welcome ! You can't imagine how good it is to read comments like yours. For years, I've been searching for this intro, for the series... Richard Shores, the composer, also wrote the theme for another "almost unknown" tv series in 1977 : "Hunter". Very good soundtrack too. My dream would be a "The Quest"/"hunter" original soundtrack (both shows were produced by columbia). Let's cross fingers ! et merci de votre gentil commentaire ! A très bientôt peut-être !

  • I'm afraid that I can't remember "Hunter." How about "The Gemini Man" with Ben (Alias Smith and Jones) Murphy?!! - I never looked the ame way at a digital watch again!

  • Ohh man I'm also 42 and remember being devastated that we never got to see the end of the series. Did they ever find their sister??

  • If memory serves me correctly, the brothers DID find their sister, played by Susan Dey (of "The Partridge Family"), and she had some serious re-introduction issues, not wanting to be accepted by the non-Indian world and the non-Indian world not wanting her. It was long ago, though, and it's possible I'm mixing up some other series with this one.

  • ARGH !: Atually they did not find their sister. You are referring (quite well) to "The Captive" episode, the first one after the 2 hours pilot. They did rescue Susan Dey (in France she's most remembered for her days in "L.A. Law"), but it wasn't their sis. A very good episode !!! (70 minutes long)

  • Loved this show but I was totally pissed off that it ended without them finding their sister.

  • Yeah. Problem is they were cancelled before they could write a decent ending ! too bad !

  • Thank you for letting me know. I'd certainly like to think there were reunited in the end!

  • Another blast from my past. Like strikerdog1, when mentioning this show to people my age, I usually just get a blank expression. Very glad to see that Kurt and Tim are still around. (Didn't Tim make a great 'villain' in "West Wing"!?) Thanks to elio4 for posting.

  • Oh I am over the moon to see this short clip from The Quest, I loved it and never missed an episode, I had a huge poster of Tim and Kurt on my bedroom wall ! oh I would love to see it re-run must say Kurt was my favourite one though , thanks for the post ,a great memory.

  • Thanks ! That was really a terrific show !

  • I've been trying to explain this series to my friends (mostly of a similar age) and none of them had a clue about it! I cant believe I've found this on Youtube!! Brilliant!!! I was totally in love with Tim Matheson! I googled him a few times, but this series isn't mentioned in any of his biogs.

  • Yes ! It's really a shame this show hasn't been rerun in the US. In france we just finished a rerun ! A truly great show !

  • thanks to the frnch reruns of the sho, I confirm. This a truly well done series, the most realistic "wild west" shown on tv (during the 70s)

  • I meant : thanks to the french reruns of the show !

  • Greta to see this again after... wait for it 32 Years!

Was shown in the Uk in 1976 and I waited every Saturday evening to watch on BBC1 the last of the well made Western Series in my humble opinion!

  • Sequel to my other 2 comments I also had a huge poster of them both - couldn't you just kick yourself for throwing stuff like that away?

  • I'm recordng all the episodes ! I must tell I was quite frightend : I'm not 8 years old anymore... But the show is still a very good one. Strong acting, strong stories and a real sense of gritty... We're not in one of those old tv series with the good cow-boys vs the whole world !!! "the Quest" rules !

    WHAT ??? A POSTER ???? THROWN AWAY???

    OUCH !!! I just kicked you !

  • Hi ! Great news ! The series is re-running on "equidia" ! Dubbed in french ! But hey ! that's great news for french audiences ! starts tomorrow at 8 AM. Rediffusion de la superbe série "Sur la piste des cheyennes!!!" A partir de demain 8 heures sur EQUIDIA !!!

  • If Hollywood decided to make a movie based on another TV series from the past, I vote they remake this wonderful series into a movie. But only if they get an actor just as handsome as Kurt Russel to play "Twopersons"

  • This is amazing. I have been looking for a recording of this for years. Do you know where I can get it on DVD or Video ? Thanks for posting this. How did you get it ?

  • OMG!!! i THOUGHT I WOULD NEVER SEE THIS AGAIN, IT WAS MY FAVORITE TV SERIES, THANKS FOR POSTING THIS, BRINGS BACK GOOD MEMORIES:)

  • It's amazing just when you think your'e the only loony out there, you find out you're not. Me and my best mate lived for his series it is just like yesterday, isn't it?

  • thanks 4 your comment ! I did the same stuff with the audio recording when I was a kid !!! Send you a mail for the rest...

  • elio4, this is awesome!! By the time I watched this show, the VCR didn´t even EXIST, my only source was the cassete recorder, so I recorded the intro, but the tape must be so worn out, I can hardly listen to the recording! It´s part of my life you´re bringing back, elio4!! You can´t figure the thrill of watching it again after 30 years!! I wonder how you got this... is it private material of yours? I MUST save this video!! Many thanks for posting!!

  • I used to hold my cassette tape microphone up to the TV speaker to tape stuff, only got the sound though, obviously. I got Belle and Sebastian and The Water Margin and all favs by this method oh happy days!! and yes I still have my tape too !
