  • It's still a theory, subject to flaws. Nice to think about but I'm still going to focus on enjoying my life as though I am only here for a meager 90 years

  • True, but even when eternal life migrates from the theoretical to practical - like everything else - it will always be subject to flaws. As long as people are working to get around such obstacles progress will continue, in fact that is how progress develops in the first place - it feeds on entropy. Thus entropy is a good thing, but we should treat it as a challenge rather than a blessing or curse.

  • I encourage you and everyone to enjoy life as if it is transcendental, because right now it is, even when aging is overcome, this wont prevent accidents, murder, or war. But lets not get too fixed and negligent to condemn the future generations to meager 90 or even 900 year life spans.

  • I would think though, by Kurzweil's admission and as we see in his desire to bring back his father from the grave, that accidents and murders simply won't mean the end. In his view things will become like a video game- you die, you can restart.

  • Let me be the first one to say that that would be awesome! I would view it something like Cylon resurrection technology from the remake series Battlestar Galactica. But my understanding is that Kurzweil has collected a lot of imprints or records (for lack of a better word) of his father and using these as a substrate wants to re create his fathers likeness in a simulator of some sort. Check out the movie Caprica as it covers this concept quite well I think. (Yes Im a Battlestar Galactica fan)

  • yo screw that. as soon as we have full 5 sense immersive virtual reality that we can manipulate by will, im outta this bitch. seal me in a cryotube, whatever, that shits awesome.

  • Corporations collude with government. One example is the FDA. If the FDA honestly applied to the Hippocratic oath, tobacco and alcohol would be illegal -- not to mention the most health rejuvenating plant on the planet -- hemp -- is illegal. Search for "Rick Simpson, Run From the Cure, and, Dr. Robert Melamede.

Hemp oil is the closest thing to a cure-all. If the facts were to be widely publicized the pharmaceutical companies would lose, at minimum, half their business -- probably 80%.

  • I want be robot.

  • NicE...

  • Ray, stop saying the same old shit and come up with a solution your-freaking-self if you don't want to die.

  • lol your comment makes no sense. Technology HAS TO progress on some sort of curve; even if it is an exponential curve, no one can't skip ahead to the technology we'll have in 20-30 years...and that's about how long it'll be until we start seeing dramatic life extension.

That's like saying to Intel about 10 years ago: stop making these shitty, slow Pentium processors and develop the Core i7 already.

There are no exceptions - we're ALL stuck to the curve.

  • As curves go, the exponential ones can be a helluva ride.

  • Havent you been paying attention? He has published 3 books on the solution for death-- Transcend, Fantastic Voyage, and the 10% Solution.

  • No matter how many inventions Ray comes up with, in the long term, he will be remembered primarily for selling hope.

  • yes and I buy it for better or for worse. I don't want to die, I want a better society so on etc. Hopefully, his future will come to pass.

  • ...fingers crossed...

  • so do I

  • Indeed, but unlike many other things, i.e. religion, his ideas and predictions are based on predictable patterns and trends. It WILL all come true in the exact time span he mentions... the graphs and data don't lie.

So. it's not just hope - it's truth. The problem is the majority of the world's population is not intelligent or visionary enough to believe it.

  • Preaching to the choir, siciliano29.

The population is getting there, and the movies will definitely help. I'm glad Ray agreed to make them.

  • wee
