Much respect to you sir, totally love your playing. As a JJ lover I totally appreciate the effort you put in trying to honour & justify the legend's lines. The tone you've got there sounds mint aswell. Thanks for sharing amigo!
Love It ...You Are THE BEST....The Bassline is what made Marvin's music so special....his voice and the Bass of Jamerson...The best duet...Man wish I could do covers with you using your bass....
"Cheers - Jamerson hit hard a lot, but the quicker stuff demands a lighter touch - the high action allows a heavy JJ "classic"
indeed.
on another note: i just moved 'what's going on' to the upright an' it sounds pretty sweet. i may play around w/ some other jamerson just for the sake of rockin' his sweet bass grooves on the dbl bass.
this guy is one o' the best for jamerson, but i've found that nobody is playin' hard like jamerson did. i didn't really start sounding jamerson like (truly) 'til i started to really bite into the string (while muffling jamerson-style of course) that's when you get that bell tone.
Cheers - Jamerson hit hard a lot, but the quicker stuff demands a lighter touch - the high action allows a heavy JJ "classic" tone, a heavy-hit note dies on it's ass when the string is strangled by the fretboard if the action's too low.
Also, Motown's Fairchild limiter was used on a lot of stuff that also adds a sharp "pick" tone to the note - I'll post an example sometime - my cheapo rack comp/limiter can emulate it (and so does the PJB Bass Buddy when set to maximum compression)
Yes they weave a magic underneath-sometimes not recognised. How nice to see some patterns played on top. Now for punchy rythmn guitar check out Mick Green of The Pirates.
Thanks for the kind words - unless they are requests I choose by how much I like the overall piece I guess. Jamerson managed to weave incredible improvised rhythms and melodic lines around vocals as well as musicians on countless tracks, and it's this kind of stuff I'm into more than when he was probably being instructed to hold down a continous riff.
I am subscribed to a lot of bassists and various musicians, but I have to say you're my favorite.Explain choices for songs, excellent playing. Especially the one finger for the Jamerson songs.

BASSISTS ROCK ASS MORE THAN ANY OTHER! I mean, the other players in the band are cool, but thank goodness for the low end. Peace.
