Grade 5, my class would go to the school library and watch this on the tv there. Loved this show, and got the book at the school book fair later that year. Or perhaps one of those monthly scholastic book order things? Thanks for posting these. :D
feeling nostalgic. As a treat to our class my 4th grade teacher use to make us watch this every week. we were allowed to bring snacks and it felt like being in the movies. awwww i miss those days
I loved this show! It brings back a more innocent time for me.
Does anyone remember that shorter-lived show about a librarian who falls asleep or time travels or something in a bookmobile and she meets a group of people who are trying to figure out how to defeat another tribe, and they finally discover that the other tribe is afraid of horses or something, so they project images of horses into the clouds and the other tribe (aliens, maybe?) retreats? It has been driving me crazy for years!!
I was about to offer a cash reward to figure out what the name of this show was and to see a clip of it. I keep explaining it to people and they thought I was crazy. I also got to watch it when I stayed home sick.
Weird, the last time I saw this was when I was seven years old so all the kids, being middle school aged, looked really tall. And now they look just like children.
Wow!!! We watched the first season of this as a novel study in the 4th grade. We all loved it and begged our teacher to get the second season so we could find out what happened. Unforntunatly he couldn't find a copy before the year ended and I still think about it and have been wanting to know what happened ever since. P.S. I am 23 years old now.
I loved this show!!! For years Ive been trying to find it or anyone who remembered it! I was about 6yrs old when I 1st saw it. Looking back, I suppose this was the probably the beginning of my life long love of both reading and scary movies.
We had to watch this in 4th grade, the entire first season, and Duneedon always scared me, and I remember pretending to hate it because I thought I was 'too grown up.' I wish they still made shows like this...
i always hated this show, but watched it when i was too lazy to change the station, or was waiting for electric company. its amazing how few people remember or know about it though.
we were forced to watch this in grade 6. it was interesting. too bad they dont have shows like this anymore. if video killed the radio star, the internet killed everyones brain.
This show gave me nightmares!!! I forgot the title as a child; took years to finally figure out the name and now watching this as an adult it's still crazy creepy. This show is messed...WTF!!!
Yes, I watch this at school. It's a very old show... Can you believe it. In Season 2, Chris is much taller. This season, some people just change, man.
@BeefBoullionaire you can buy this on DVD. Except it's DVDR and it's something like $60 for a single episode. They're sold through some educational website, so the cost is what a library or school would pay for the right to play or lend it out to many people.
@phillydisco I watched this at home, and we also had to study this in school. We even had photocopies of the episodes and their synopsis. I think it was part of some educational package. I haven't been able to find them, but I think I have the papers somewhere.

Great series that really helped reluctant readers develop a love of reading....too bad TVO doesn't have the budget to produce more programs like this excellent one...
I got to meet the black kid who joined the cast in Summer 83 at a Sunday School picnic in Niagara on the Lake. The church group I was with had a picnic there, and then this large family from TO came by. My folks and the other kid's folks got to talking, as they hail from Barbados.
Anyway, I recognized the young man and mentioned something about the show. He did state he was part of the cast in the latter times of the series. I was floored!
I can't even begin to tell you how happy this made me. I remember watching this every Friday in my Extended Language Arts class. I grew up in Syracuse, so being close to Canada, we always got thier kid's programming! Thanks again! Wow! What a blast from the past.
I used to love staying home sick from school because they'd play shows like this in between Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers. I wish they'd put out a huge DVD collections of all those shows.
I had an urge to check out some of th old kids show I used to watch, whaen I thought about the war of 1812 series I watched in public school and was trying to remember the name of the program did some research and BAM! Lo & behold here it is on Youtube. Thanks for retaining these shows for future generations to see and for the old ones to look back on.
ha I agree with who ever said they thought it was a dream. I remember watching this every friday at school and it used to scare the shit out of my and I had a dream about it last week and wasn't sure if it was something random I had dreamed of or something I'v already seen. Totally cool I found this. anyone else watch telefrancais in school as well? that is joooks
Oh my god! I was trying to remember what this was called today, just remembering Duneedin (or however you spell his name) and how freaked out I was by him back when I watched this--I think we watched it in school, too. Thanks for posting the videos so I can reminisce!
I sat through an episode of this in second grade and it scared me to death. I promptly had my Mom write a note to the teacher excusing me from watching it. A week later, the whole class stopped watching it!
wow. i finally found this. so glad someone posted these. i was beginning to think i was the only one who had heard of this show, except of course my fifth grade teacher and the rest of my class. we watched this every week in fifth grade, and even though everyone thought it was super corny, we ended up loving the show, looking forward to it every week and singing the theme song! lol
I remember watching this in like grade 4 or 5 every friday at school, we all used to laugh and make fun of the theme song, but we really we all loved it lol
does anybody remember watch a show were there was a under ground libary and a lady who was knocked out and woke up and their were aliens now on earth and she help them make a laser to beat the bad ones
yeah, I just searched for it and watched a bit of an episode. There's also a show, I don't remember the name of it, but it was about a bookmobile..also trying to think of a show where the kids had to rescue their father while reading clues. I might have to google a while.
If it weren't so pixely I would give it 5 stars. When I was in third grade we watched this every Friday and every one in my class memorized the theme song and we would all sing it. And when we watched part two when the part two showed up I said the part two and everybody else sang. It was an awsome show!
We are watching this in school! It's okay we finished the 1st season. Dundneedon Laughs really weird in the next chapters. The last chapter is really chessy! Well that's the old movies for you!
it made me paranoid all the time too, I used to be afraid to look out the window at night thinking that duneedon would be floating outside the window, but in third grade we would watch it every friday and every ody in my class memorized the words the to the theme song. It was awsome though.
wow! i love that i can find these old TV Ontario shows and themes! Does ANYONE remember a show with a woman (I want to say Heather Conkie from Dear Aunt Agnes - remember that show?) .. anyway, this woman who would sing and break songs down to their basic levels ... i THINK she sang to a flower? songs like Frere Jacques and stuff ... it's a bit hazy, but i can see her clapping and dancing to the beat .. what is this show called????
Yes I remeber it was Heather Conkie. At first in the early 80's there was this show called "it's mainly music" where she played her own role, as a musician in an appartment building with other people as well as the first appearance of "aunt agnes". Then there was this show where she was with a talking grammophone, in a set like sort of a conservatory with flowers and it was also all about music (The name must have been something like that, "all about music" or something like that)
it ok:(

I got to meet the black kid who joined the cast in Summer 83 at a Sunday School picnic in Niagara on the Lake. The church group I was with had a picnic there, and then this large family from TO came by. My folks and the other kid's folks got to talking, as they hail from Barbados.
Anyway, I recognized the young man and mentioned something about the show. He did state he was part of the cast in the latter times of the series. I was floored!

I used to love staying home sick from school because they'd play shows like this in between Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers. I wish they'd put out a huge DVD collections of all those shows.

This show creeped me out when I was a small child. I find it funny that people watched it in grade 5... I was much younger.

A week later, the whole class stopped watching it!

wow. i finally found this. so glad someone posted these. i was beginning to think i was the only one who had heard of this show, except of course my fifth grade teacher and the rest of my class. we watched this every week in fifth grade, and even though everyone thought it was super corny, we ended up loving the show, looking forward to it every week and singing the theme song! lol

yeah, I just searched for it and watched a bit of an episode.

Thats odd so did i

lol, so did i, only in 5th grade! we would make fun of it and sing the song.

this show used to scare the living shit out of me
thecorduroysuit 3 years ago
it made me paranoid all the time too, I used to be afraid to look out the window at night thinking that duneedon would be floating outside the window, but in third grade we would watch it every friday and every ody in my class memorized the words the to the theme song. It was awsome though.

wow! i love that i can find these old TV Ontario shows and themes! Does ANYONE remember a show with a woman (I want to say Heather Conkie from Dear Aunt Agnes - remember that show?) .. anyway, this woman who would sing and break songs down to their basic levels ... i THINK she sang to a flower? songs like Frere Jacques and stuff ... it's a bit hazy, but i can see her clapping and dancing to the beat .. what is this show called????
lampreysteve 3 years ago
Yes I remeber it was Heather Conkie. At first in the early 80's there was this show called "it's mainly music" where she played her own role, as a musician in an appartment building with other people as well as the first appearance of "aunt agnes". Then there was this show where she was with a talking grammophone, in a set like sort of a conservatory with flowers and it was also all about music (The name must have been something like that, "all about music" or something like that)
