I see that people said its bilingual area do you have to be taking bilingual classes to live there. I am 23 and I am used to living on my own, I am hoping to take Psych are York this September but I am not sure if I can handle sharing a room with a person I don't know. =/
@KemekoKitten to live at Glendon you need to be a student at Glendon which means you are taking the majority of your courses at Glendon. 95% of the rooms in Glendon are single rooms, you only get a roommate if you request one. If you go to Keele, you will almost 100% be sharing a room, unless you want to pay a lot of money. If you call the housing office at Glendon they can explain the details a little bit better and clarify anything for you!
@soup87 I would be taking psych and I have no idea what part of the school that would be at. From what I have heard I would be sharing a room so tbh I have been doubting the idea of going. =/ Thanks for the heads up though I will try calling them
Ahhhh I want to go to York. But I'm so scared of Toronto & being there alone hahha. I got accepted there and at Laurier in Waterloo... I donn't know what to doo! So stressful.
@iMurderedPikachu I agree I am scared to go alone too. It's a big place. All I can say is make the choice you really want because if you make the wrong one regret might happen, but on top of that it's a little hard to change.
@KemekoKitten Yeah, I know. Stressful! At this point in time, I have acceptances to all 4 of the Universities I've applied to. So hard to make a decision.
Hi i came to glendon this summer for an english immersion andi'd like to study there. I'm from quebec and i speak french. I know that glendon is a bilingual university but i wonder if there's really classes done in french and if the teachers are real french or not ? Cause i'd like to have half classes in english and half in french. I'd be glad if you can answer me thanks :)
@fanniechiasson There are a ton of classes in french at Glendon. Also, the french teachers are all real 'frenchies' from different regions. Some from paris, some from quebec, some from 'persia' etc. There are more and more classes every year offered in french due to a huge grant given to the university by the government!
York students, try out After Classroom, it's a really cool site where you can quickly get help on your assignments and enjoy new tool to socialize with your friends. Everything on After Classroom less than 2 clicks to get to the information that you would need for your school or social.
thank you so much for uploading this!! i'm only in grade 11 but planning to go to york, and this vid is really helpful. i was looking at the different types of rooms on the website..i thought "small single" would be right for me, but wan't completely sure what it was like till now, so thank you!!! <3 :)
@cheerchick3740 excellent, I'm glad I could help. Just remember that this is a dorm room at GLENDON campus not KEELE so the rooms will be different depending on what campus you go to! If you have any questions feel free to ask!
@soup87 ohh, thats true... i'll have to keep that in mind. but this helped a lot. thanks!! and i'll definitely ask questions if i think of anything :D
Thanks for uploading these residence videos! they are really helpful! =)
I was just wondering though, what is the size of your mini fridge? b/c I am planning on getting one and don't want to end up buying one that is going to make the room too cramped.. and yours looks like a perfect size for the room! Thanks!!!
@1xbebebliss the size fridge that I had is your typical bar fridge size, I believe it's 4.5 Cubic feet. Somewhere around there. But basically if you go into any Zellers, Home Depot etc. they will be the first ones you see. Unless you plan on cooking a lot or buying a ton of groceries, they're the perfect size fridge! Glad I could help!
@soup87 great, thanks!! I actually just bought a fridge today that was on sale at Wal-Mart.. it is 3.2 Cubic feet so glad to know it will fit! I watched your other residence tour videos and I'm actually going to be in same house as you were (F-house) so it was nice that you had videos of so thanks for that! Oh and about the cooking you mentioned.. I heard we weren't allowed to bring personal rice cookers/electric cooking appliances.. is this true? Any recommendations on waht to bring! Thx! ^^
@1xbebebliss well the best appliance you can bring is a hot pot, you can get it at Wal Mart also. You can pretty much make anything in it if you're creative enough, which you soon will be, trust me. I can make a pretty mean Grill Cheese in a hot pot! Other than that, you have to be really careful. It's an older building with old wiring so anything that needs a lot of electricity will blow the fuse for the whole floor. There's a microwave in the common room you can use as well!
@1xbebebliss also, I had a Crock Pot, which can be handy if you want to cook a lot, if not, you'll find you'll never use it. Again, you can get creative with it and make some pretty good food in it. I also had a Waffle Maker which I got for $10 at Canadian Tire, really nice to have on a Sunday. Technically, all these things, except the hot pot, are illegal, so be careful and just beware that people will be able to smell you cooking in your room! Don't cook when the Fire Inspector is around!
