  • Differences between B16A2 and B16A JDM Generation II

    B16A2 specs : 58mm throttle body , PR3 Pistons(like B16A1 and B16A JDM Generation I) intake cam 230@10.6, Compression: 10.2:1 ,power 160 ps

    B16A JDM Gen2 Specs : 60mm throttle body , P30 Pistons , intake cam 240@10.7 , Compression 10.4:1 , power 170 ps plus stock Torsen LSD on the tranny

  • its loud because the eg sir2 motors came with higher compression i noticed the diffrence when u swaped the pr3 pistons for the p30 pistons in my b16a2

  • loud vtec crossovers mean bad tuning...sounds sick but needs dyno tuning

  • On a dyno chart the crossover is a dip at vtec then power increases in vtec. the bigger the dip in power at the point of crossover the more ur engine is cutting out then picking back up. why do u think k series vtec is so quiet? honda made the vtec crossover more efficient. thats why a k20a2 can make 230whp without major mods. more efficient. so a loud vtec sounds cool, but in fact its a longer period of time before ur engine transitions from economy lobe to vtec lobe.

  • Love the crossover, my cousin had a jdm ls or lsi vtec (cant remember which exactly) but it sounded just as aggressive, im thinking of getting a VTI which isnt JDM, but just hope it has just as good a crossover

  • @Umbot786 i bought a 98 Jetta GLX 2.8 12v VR6 172hp 173lbs with 67k miles for $1000(one thousand). OEM 15'' 7-spoke BBS alloys, 5 speed manual, 4 doors, leather seats, power everything, 3rd gear ends at 110MPH, 5th ends at 160~, and no it doesn't weigh 3,000+ lbs...show me a stock honda of around the same year with as much torque, and class. Plus, it doesn't sound like a lawn mower. =D

    Well the civic b16a jdm above for example

    The guy did 0-100KM in about 7 seconds, launching the car off the line would make it even quick, perhaps mid 6's, topspeed will be around 150mph but bearing it mind the stunning looks, reliability, sound, MPG and its only a naturally aspirated 1.6L vtec engine

    a 2.8L VR6 (6 cylinders) only producing 173bhp and 173lbs of torque is terrible engineering, the civic would be between 1992-1996 i think

  • @accountname098 with type 3 i ment MKIII, and b16a 7600rpm? original it's 8.300, mine about the 8.500 some way, didn't tried how far i could go, 8500rpm is enough by me;) and a vr6 got 1 of the most beautifull angine sounds, but when you put the pedal down you allmost can go straight to a gasoline pump, that's the difference with a jdm b16a, and japanese cars are more trustfull...but hey m8 fuck it, you like volkswagens, i like japanese cars, you got my respect. only german i like is bmw e30:)

  • @accountname098 Did you drive a civic tuned for the circuit? As in light tune motor, fully adjustable suspension etc....? Then you will understand, most civic mods are for the circuit not the 1/4 mile, civics are not high power motors hence the lack of Tq's. I keep my B16 low tune and never got sucked into this turbo stuff. Hondas are cheap for parts, ultra reliable and have good response off minimal tuning for N/A motors. A B16 with a good driver can keep up with most cars on a track.

  • @Jvzwet there's no any chip or cams etc. Engine's from Japan like B16A, B18C, B16B etc. etc. have very loud vtec crossover in stock specification. Any aftermarket air intake cause vtec more louder, and yes-in this car is CAI. Nothing else. Only CAI.

  • @M4TiJDM The main reason the B's are so loud is because you have DOHC instead of SOHC. You have the intake and exhust valves open longer so the sound is louder. On D's you can't really hear it unless you really punch it at the cross over with a CAI, because they are SOHC. VTEC is only on the intake.

  • @LazySniper Plus the B-series secondary cam profiles make 160-200hp and are much more aggressive than the D-series secondary cam profiles which only make 125-130hp. You can hear the VTEC on a D-series if you put a big enough cam in it. But yes, VTEC on intake and exhaust valves is always louder than VTEC on a SOHC, unless it's the J37A1, which is Honda's first SOHC engine to have VTEC on the intake and exhaust valves.

  • this movie was recorded when the car had a stock b16a engine from del sol SiR jdm. Mods? TenzoR CAI, EG3 stock exhaust (;/) ended with a very loud muffler - a fart cannon xD now it has a new custom exhaust system
