I was at this air show and remember that day well. Even today, when I think about it I wonder if he saw it coming. They couldn't continue the air show because it would have interfered with fire, rescue, and recovery services. What was almost as shocking as the crash itself was that there were people around us who were pissed that they canceled the show and were demanding their $10 entry fee back. What is wrong with people?
I was there. As young and selfish I was, I was more pissed off that they cancelled the ThunderBirds along with the rest of the show. Now, I understand the reason for show cancel. Sad day.
I was there on the day this happened sitting on top of the hill at the fence line and SeptemberFury is right... The debrie was not scatered 3/4 of a mile, Col Jack plowed straight into the ground. He came down of the backside of the loop with so much speed and there was never any deployment of his speed brakes.
Being a pilot, when I saw this I told my friend to grab his 7 yr old son and duck that the pilot was not going to make it... I was right. God Bless Col Jack for a great show. SemperFi
@YearZer02022 or hi didn't even attempt to eject ,that seat is an old seat definitely not zero zero he would have had to make the decision when he hit 90 degrees nose down about half way down anything after that he would hit the ground still in his seat
The debris from this crash would not have been spread over 3/4 of a mile. It impacted the ground vertically at a hight speed, therefore it would of been confined to one area no wider than 200ft in diameter. The F-86 also hit a tree just before impact. If you look close enough you can actually see it break apart milli seconds before exploding after hitting the ground.
The pilot was effectively to low to pull off the stunt. Very unlucky indeed.
I was at that show, Me and my brother went with his wife and kids. IT was surreal as all hell. They canceled the show after that because the FAA deemed the crash would obstruct the flight path. I don't think people wanted to stick around anyways.
IT was really sad what happened.
One thing I learned in my time spent living and flying in Denver. The winds coming off the Rockies makes for turbulent air. The Jefferson County Airfield is a few miles from the Foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
@planetrob555 dude you really have no idea what kind of shit that really was, and what the hell u expect someone to do, when they see something like that? Everyone was in awe, never heard so many people scream the word shit in my life. So please keep your trolling to less sensitive matters.
@gtrob1 Sad, indeed. It is NOT recovering from a loop, but from a "Reverse Cuban 8". As an aerobatic instructor and competitor, I can say what we look for on the top of a reverse Cuban is 1) airspeed, and 2) altitude. Airspeed is the MOST important, and you have to bleed off as much as possible, or on the recovery (back side, or downward trajectory) too MUCH airspeed will either take the plane past Vne (never exceed, or redline), or over-g the plane...or both. An F-86 builds up a LOT of speed!

I was there. Been looking for this vid for a while, dunno why i wanna re see it, but damn, what an insane day, i remember seeing him hit, then the fireball, then the sound, then the heat from the fire, and then the rumble in the ground. On top of it all, i learned later, i remodeled that guys kitchen, a year before, just WOW, ty for posting this, it means a lot to me
I want to know what those two guys in the lower part of the video are doing. They just stand there, either holding onto their shotguns, or holding onto some sort of posts or something. They don't react. They just watch it crash, then stand there staring. One of them finally turns to the other one and mumbles something...something like this: (in a deep country accent) "Hmm." The other one probably just looks at him briefly, acting like he doesn't understand simple grunts.
i was there.. i live in denver.... this is insane i havent seen this in 13 years.. and last time i saw it it was with my own eyes.. i remember it like it was yesterday... i was in a convertible mustang with my uncle aunt and cousin.. my aunt was screaming.. and i was in aw. i was parked looks like right by you.. on the hill... took wadsworth to i think 102nd. and then after this happened 36 was jam packed.. god bless you.. thank you.. and thank you for this video i think about it alot.
No it isn't. There are no laws governing what youtube can display other than its own internal policies. The Nick Berg murder is available on here along with hundreds of other plane crash videos. Furthermore, when using text to address someone, you employ a comma not a colon. Sir.
@RezoNecro It looks like sunlight reflected by the aircraft. Had he ejected the aircraft would not have continued to pull G as it did. He flew it into the ground, pulling very hard on the stick no doubt.
i was there the day that this happened. I was 5 years old. just like anyother colorado day. Parents didnt make a big deal out of it. They didnt want to scare me. they said it was just fireworls. Not until I was more mature did they talk about it when i brang it up.
I vaguely recalled this memory. Ive never seen the actual video of the crash.
This really does mean alot to me seeing this again. Thanks 4 posting
on my 1st 8mm camcorder wish i had the extra 150$ for the color viewfinder and Image STABILIZATION ah, the antiques But Jack R flew the best civilian show I have ever seen, til the end, Man that Saber was burning a hole in the Sky!
That would have been a pretty cool loop had he pulled it off.

Why the Pilot not eject the seat ? Evething before than this!

@edestci
it's an old fighter jet, more than likely the ejection seat failed or he couldnt pull the it hard enough to get it to eject.
