Mark's totally drug ravished here... but still hot as ever. There was a solo album he made just after this, around 1997/1998 but it got scrapped cos he couldn't get his shit together at the time. I wish I could say more, but I could get into trouble.
personally i think screaming trees shouldve been way more well known back then and now. hell they are ten times better than pearl jam and many other bands around the 90s. Mark Lanegan is a genius if you believe it or not...
I spent 3 month solid listening to Dust whilst writing up my PhD. This album has some serious emotional resonance for me. Great, great album, that moves track by track through your capillaries until it all part of you.
you were there when "he" blew his head off even though, with the amount of heroin found in his body, it would have not been possible? and you were there to note that the rumour of his head being "blown off" was not an exaggerated misconception?
so great. I love that and the guitar play is so awesome and by the way with Josh Homme. one of the greatest Bands in the 90ties. Too sad, that Mark still has to fight against his demons :-( What a great voice
how is it that Pearl Jam are famous billionaries and great groups like this are all but unknown? i like eddie and the boys as much as anybody, but i will NEVER understand the media! (sigh)
@jteshuwah ...got to agree with you there!! Screaming Trees are a fantastic band. I really dont understand why the shit like Oasis get to be so massive?? Oasis must be the most boring plodding pile of shit bollocks I have ever heard!!
see how the guitar-Conner feels the music he's playing, amazing, one of the most important (while so absent in today's crap-music) musician qualities to me
When he sings 'with one foot in the grave' fuck me he is'nt kidding! Dust is kind of overlooked by alot of people, I think its one of the best albums of the 90's.
Christ I can't remember the last time Later... actually had band-specific set design. Does Jools even have bans on their any more? Or is it just Corinne Bailey Rae on a loop?
Great song! I lived in the same building with Lanegan those days and, let me tell you, things were not looking good. Was so relieved when he left Seattle in search of a healthier life style, cause the way he was carrying on was deadly.
Went to the Seattle club show of the Dust tour and he was barely able to carry through... He looks so much better now - I guess whisky beats smack as an addiction...
You must be referring to the '97(?) show at the Showbox. I actually thought it was a pretty ace gig. Beat the shit out of the HUB Ballroom show in either '90 or '91. Can't remember which year it was.
Mark, was almost dead when this was done, hell he was best friends with Cobain, and he went severly over the deep end when he died...he was a ghost of his former self..
I love how you look at this video and compare josh homme from this to being frontman of queens... totaly awesome. here he is a skrawny kid, and 15 years later. BOOM. rock god.
if u look alot closer, that's definitely an electronic sitar. it has a slightly electrified sound when plugged in but 13 strings like a regular indian sitar. (the other seven are drone strings which contribute to its mystical south asian sound.)
Love this band! A good influence on my tastes and on my own band. If you have a little time, click on my (looseground) channel and check my band out. We're are starting and need opinions and suggestions. Thanks in advance. 90's influenced.
