I have no doubts that the car is fun, but they still should have made it optional with the six-speed manual Tremec TR-6060 with the ZF-SACHS 240mm twin-disc clutch the Challenger uses. That way you cover all aspects; the people who want the 5-speed auto-stick, as well as the ones who want the 6-speed manual.

@JoeA320Pilot The Challenger offers the 6-speed manual out of the Viper. But Chrysler's 5-speed boxes in these cars is exceptional for being a conventional automatic. The cost of throwing a manual in these cars wouldn't be justified by how much it'd sell.

The 3-speed Torqueflite auto was consistently faster than the 4-speed manual offered. But, those were simpler times when the engines were torquier (though not necessarily more powerful), and the automatics shifted faster. These days, automatics shift more slowly and more often, usually with less torque to make up the difference, and the manuals have gotten much faster.
