  • Show this to Montreal Canadiens fans

  • He's such a badass

  • I love it. Only with Herzog are phrases like, "You could only get some French out of me with a gun pointed to my head," absent of hyperbole. They come from his genuine experience. His next line is, of course, "It actually happened to me..."

  • @wildpeckinpah

    rofl right on the point.

  • is the story true? pretty fricken amazing

  • Oh man, look at those gas prices!

  • He surrendered and spoke French.

  • Dude, he's the most epic director EVAAAAAARRRRRRRR!!!

  • I hate frogs too, Werner.

  • Love this dude :D

  • My God, he really is the most interesting man in the world.

  • @binkymagnus

Whenever I see the Dos Equis commercial now, I'll be thinking of how that man is so less interesting than Werner.

  • I wonder if there's a director out there with balls big enough to tell Werner Herzog's life in a movie.

  • Aweome! I thought I was the only one who intensely disliked the French Language. I don't see why everyone is so gaga over french. I've always felt it to be the lowest and ugliest langauge

  • @JohnTheHutDweller Do you speak french?

  • @Bagabagab very little. I speak english, Spanish some Portuguese some Arabic and a little Greek

  • ''das hat etwas very unpleasant'' richtig!

  • Can anybody tell me what kind of car he is driving.

I am not kidding. I love his work and I am in to details.

Jawohl! Es sieht aus wie eno SUV oder ist es einPKW ( person kraft wagen?)

    John Koistinen-Lindgren

    Kingdom of Thailand

  • Herzog fan from

    Thailand

    Dr John

    Carsanook

  • he said french without a gun to his head D=

  • 4 or 5 languages, not a big deal.

  • To me, this is the funniest man alive.

  • i like them french fried potaters

  • "you can only get some french out of me with a gun pointed at my head...which actually happened to me..."

    hahahahaha

    best human being ever.

  • OMG that was hysterical!!

  • reptilian what

  • proves, the french is so far at the bottom of the shit pile, you would have to speak it.

  • Seems to me he was just being humorous since he actually repeated a line of French in that clip.

  • I wonder why he hates French...

  • @VoiceOverBerlin He doesn't hate French, but speaking it's too hard for him.

  • Werner... so awesome

this is a pretty good Werner impression

    watch?v=CIYkW8VuxOo

  • The reason why he refuses to speak french?

  • he's probobly feigning hate for the french

this is from an outtake in a mockumentary

  • No, he's serious. He says the same thing in Herzog on Herzog (pages 27-8).

  • I doubt it's true, this was an outtake in a mockumentary. Could be real, but could be staged, or bs or something too. This guy is great! Really a fantastic artist and great sense of humor.

  • Actually it's real, despite being part of Loch Ness... amazing...

  • "it actually happened to me once when i was taken prisoner in africa by drunken child soldiers."

lol i wasn't expecting that. he's had a very eventful life.

  • He actually spoke a line of french without realising.

  • He fully realized it and that's the genius of this joke.

  • I just can't get enough of Werner Herzog. The more I learn about him, the more I listen to him, and the more I see of his work.... the more I love the guy! And this?....... this is absolute classic!!!

  • I feel the way. There just isn't enough Werner .

  • Lol, whoever said Germans had no sense of humour, eh?

  • This man is a genius yet a huge sense of humour.

  • Man, I hate youtube so much.

  • It's his sense of humor. He isn't serious

  • haha wow

  • where is this clip from??

  • It's from the deleted scenes on the "Incident at Loch Ness" DVD.

  • This man breaths poetry.

  • Great stuff... Werner is a King.

  • "I do understand French but I refuse to speak it" .... classic

  • @Deebomc it's not a significant language.

  • @levanyzzuf ha ha ha , nice reference.

  • @Deebomc Having seen one of his films (for the first time!) on TV a couple of nights ago, I thus became aware of Herzog and an admirer besides. His statement "I do understand French but I refuse to speak it" makes me an even greater admirer. I read and understand French, translate French into other languages, but will only speak that language at gunpoint, for fear of being insulted. Happy that someone as famous as Herzog had an opportunity to state this in public.

  • ahaha i love this.

  • he spoke french in this video.

  • Awesome.

  • "I regret it.." Hhahaha! I love Werner.

  • Wow he can certainly tell a story
