mike was the 1st to use his hand to disrupt the breathing of bart by covering his mouth n nose and he also isthe 2nd man to show true heart after fred edish of ufc 2 n as for cock fighting this was in 95 n the ufc had their 5th event in 95 witch looked just like this as far as the fighting still marketing brutallity bart fought some of the best in his time n mikes school is 1 of the top ones in his art in the nation still today
This is one of the most savage MMA fights I think I've ever seen. If I recall correctly afterwards Bitonio had a dislocated shoulder, they took his mouthpiece out and a few teeth came out with it, plus he had numerous lacerations on his face. Vale also needed something like 55 stitches in his head to close the cuts, plus had broken a hand.
Too bad Vale wasn't 25 years old today, he'd be a serious force in MMA.
First off the majority of you guys are a bunch of idiots. I practice shootfighting and weigh 206 pounds. Bart once came to oversee my green belt rank test and when it came to sparring with him, believe me when I tell you that getting kicked and punched by that man is painful.
@killerapple548 your a pussy a pro fight mite get u a win but a street fight can save your life fool! plus pro fights are rigged everywhere u cant fake this though!!
To Randomer876: Bart Vale, Ken Shamrock, Frank Shamrock, Royce Gracie and Dan Severn would not stand a chance against the Hollywood classic toughguy actors in a real streetfight.
The real toughguy actors who would takeout all these UFC fighters would be John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Robert Mitchum, Lee Marvin, Dean Martin, Bob Hope, Charles Bronson, Humphrey Bogart, Edward G Robinson, Clark Gable, Rock Hudson and Richard Boone
To Stevekennyufc: Oh yeh thats right Arnold Sharzengger and Van Dam would take any of these UFC fighters. If you look at Vandam the way he kicks all those guys asses in the movies, as you can see his fights dont endup on the ground like any of these MMA fighters.
Charles Bronson would also beatup all these MMA fighters and beatup Bart Vale because Charles Bronson once punked a gunmen in Italy in real life with no jokes.
Why do you think Charles bronson was on all those Death Wish movies
To DW01: John Wayne was a real toughguy in real life. He once beatup a guy back stage in real life for making fun of his long hair so just imagine what he would do to Bart Vale??
Lee Marvin was also a nother toughguy actor who served in the marines when he was a Private First Class. Actor Lee Marvin once threw a kid off the window when he was a kid in military school and was kicked out of that.
Then you have Humphrey Bogart who would whip the dog shit out of any MMA fighter.
To DW01: Lee Marvin was a real toughguy in real life, not just in the movies. Lee Marvin served in the Marine Corp and fought in WWII while being a Private First Class in the Marines.
I'm not saying that MMA fighters are weak or anything like that, but they wouldnt stand a chance against the classic toughguy movie star actors of the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Ever seen Humphrey Bogart in that movie "Casablanca"?? He was kicking ass in that movie and proved it outside Continue:-->
Continue:-->the movies. Now take John Wayne for instance, there was a real true all American toughguy and was America's fighting forces. He played cowboys where he slaughtered indians, he played war hero's and was provened to be a toughguy in real life. John Wayne would kill Chuck Liddel in real life and so would actor Dean Martin. Dean Martin was a bareknuckle brawler in real life and his hands were scarred up for life after fighting guys without gloves.
Guy there is a diffrence between a bare knuckel untrained street fighting badass and a person who has been trained and is taught to fight there are things that for some reasons humans just dont naturaly know that make all the diffrence when kimbo went against the best of the best in the ultimate fighter he got beat up then when he had a couple months of training in american topteam with pros he won a fight against huston alexander. but you probly dont know that cu your not into fightin
Vale trained one of my old instructors and did a seminar there about ten years ago. Vale used me to demonstrate all his joint locks. I was only an 18 year old nubie. 175lbs. He was was seriously enjoying himself. Maybe he didn't like the looks of me or something. Iv'e never tapped so quick in my life. He was pretty slow on letting me go. One mean bastard. Probably the toughest guy I ever met.. He had a smile on his face while I was tapping like" I aint done with you yet".
I remmeber this fight live! I wish Mike had won so badly! That pussy headbutted him the entire time. Fuck! I cannpt believe the beating he took. At the end when he got on top and started throwing it was like OMG he's going to turn it around and pull this off!! I would like to have seen how Vale would have fared without being able to head butt the entire time. I wish so bad that Mike would have won. Most guys probably would have tapped out a long time ago!
This when MMA was in my opinon a true combat sport and when I did my first fights as well. I had the pleasure of meeting Bart Vale and training in his shooto methods.
I didn't get to watch a lot of his fights in Japan and when I met him he himself was learning too. I did learn how to better top and double wrist lock better from him and some of his students as well as better leg lock angles, stuff that I use today and routinly own BJJ guys under Michado, Saur, Bravo and the Garacies... so he obiviously knew somethings at least.
hes no grappler thats for sure, just look at any of his real fights. You spelled nearly all those names wrongly,I bet youve never been to those academies.Vale is a poor fighter by anyones estimation.
A girl I was in the British Army with once boasted about how bloodthirsty she was. I showed her this fight, and she was absolutely horrified. Bart Vale is an orge! Bart Vale is the only guy with a mullet haircut and a porn star tache that I wouldnt dare to laugh at.
thats some rotten shit for you to say.mike bitonio is all heart and was gutty as hell against the much bigger monster vale.i give mike all props...oh and bart vale was too hurt by mike to continue on renzo gracie won the tournament...the announcers were horrid.
well i don't weigh that much and i can knock out dudes bigger than me... so this weight thing is just loser talk... i love the technique he chokes him out with a good kenpo technique sleeper...nighty nighty mike...lol
These announcers back in the day knew nothing about mma...its hilarious to listen to their clueless comments....bitano was going for an armbar and they said he was putting pressure on the neck....hahahaha!!!!!
This is one of my favorite fights of all time, back when there were minimal rules. Mike Bitonio actually lost some teeth in this bout from the headbutts.
This was one of the most exciting fights I've ever seen. The part where Mike gets back on top was so exciting. I remember. He has the heart of a true champion. I could not believe he took all that insane punishment against that HUGE guy and then ended up on top. You thought OMG Vale's tired out and Mike is gonna win in a major upset. Oh man. The exciting suspense of that moment was second to none.
if mike bitonio was even 25 pounds heavier he would have beaten vale.bart vale has a glass jaw and is NOT great with his hands...the smaller jap in the ufc beat his(vales) big ass and i mean ko'd that big dude!!!
I agree I thought for sure he was going to upset vale at that end part and even though he lost I think he still won in a way I was just shocked at the punishment he took other guys would have given up a long time ago this fight was nuts.
hey me mr.scuba i have seen mr.vale who is a fine fighter and martial artist dont misunderstand me get his ass beaten by a few mean japs one ko ed him in the ufc...imagine him vs.fedor tank kimbo tim sylvia etc.. or a hard striker his own large size!!!LOL
Yeah this was Old School for sure. This is the first time i saw Renzo Gracie. He stomped on the back of his opponents neck after the fight. The old days..ahhhh
Wow, what a crazy fight!

So poor. This mullet-man was a paper champion. A big marketable lump that participated in mainly 'worked' shootfights.
