i don't understand why people would buy this dvd/vhs if he isn't going to teach you anything. What is the point of buying a video of him just playing? Just buy a cd.
It is not so much that he is supposed to be "teaching" you. What you are supposed to get from the video is an idea of how he picks, sweeps, etc. It is used to put how he plays into a different perspective than you can get from just hearing the music.
Scalloping helps with vibrato, not playing fast :*(

Yea i have a fender Stratocaster and Telecaster. If you like the feel of fenders try an Epiphone or a Gibson les paul both are very good guitars and can be used for any type of music. I have a BC Rich Warlock and i really dont play it much. I too feel like its holding me back. Of course im more into classis rock than metal and BC riches are made for metal lol. But all in all good move going for fenders man theyre awesome guitars and can be used for anything as Yngwie proves in this video lol.
You know , the concept behind playing fast and heavy licks and phrases is not just about sounding notes but keeping other unwanted sounds and notes from being heard. So it is very interesting to see someone being expert in their craft. If you want slow you should do it yourself , start the trend my man.
Great vid. We saw him in 2004 at the G3 show in Toronto. Great playing, but after a while it got old. I was impressed much more by Steve Vai and Satriani, who were far more creative. The advantage Malmsteen has, is that if you can go THIS fast, there isn't a whole lot you can't do technically. You're just limited by your imagination. Depending on my mood, Malmsteen is a great listen, though.
Hez an amazing player and pretty much invented (or at least popularized) a genre. But it just flat gets old after a very short while. If he could incorporate tastier SLOWER licks and phrases, it would at least be more interesting. But still, he plays a LOT better than I do, so I guess I should SHUT THE HELL UP!! {-))

yngwie your a good axeman but your display is more ability to play fast as hell, but, can you slow it down and bust out some feel and make the damn guitar sing and make your highs just sustain.

Well could anyone give me good settings for may tube amp and distortion petal so my shredding sounds better? I have a Crate Vseries amp and a ibanez distrortion pedal my settings for the amp are volume and tone,but on my destortion pedal has level drive and tone
