I lived in Sarasota in the 70's, I remember the old bridge, we moved right before the old one was hit. I thought it was pretty, but this one, WOW, it is awesome, I would love to see it someday. Do they still have a toll, they used to when I lived there.

That's a scary bridge and I always avoided it,reminds me of the Mackinac Island bridge in Michigan

This is what New Yorkers need to replace the Tappan Zee Bridge. The Tappan Zee bridge is constantly packed with commuter/commerical traffic, it's falling apart, and there all in stalemate over what to do about it. Dissaster waiting to happen?

Not only is it a beautiful bridge, there is some GREAT fishing under it too. I loved the old bridge and love the new one. However, the best view is from the bridge looking out and down. It's an incredible view of a little of Florida's beauty.

I was reading about how the placed concrete "dolphins" which are basically like giant donuts around the base of the towers along with some other things to prevent another catastrophy.. when they checked them, several showed signs that they had been rammed, and one actually sank a shrimp boat.

I'm sorry the other posters are assholes, hornet! Skyway bridge is a gorgeous thing. Maybe those other two posters should have been on the bridge in 1980 when the ship hit it.

That was a pointless video. I travel the skyway each day, unless you get some shots looking down on top of it its boring.
