this is actually very rare, because usually a mother panda giving birth to twins will choose to feed only one and abandon the other. i wonder how this happened?

This was very rare case that the mother, Meimei, feeded the twin panda. It was 'natural' for her, and the keeper had never forced her to feed them. She did herself.

was she a 99% bamboo eater? because i remember reading somewhere that pandas only have 1 kid because they don't get enough nutrients from the 99% bamboo diet to feed 2.

so maybe she eats more than bamboo.

no, it is not rare now, most man feeding panda have twin babies, over 64%.so here how it goes, when the first panda baby borns, nurser directly take it from panda mother, after a man feeding time, give it back to panda mother, then both baby can survive. last year, 11 panda twins borned in china.
