My apartment actually got off easy. The side that the tree hit was all banged up, but nothing was broken. Two other apartments got totaled though, so we were the lucky ones.

I've lived in California most of my life and have only been in one - very very small - earthquake. The tree was about the biggest natural disaster I've ever encountered.

Anyone who lives in areas with real weather disasters are gonna see me for the wuss I am on this one. lol.

Dude, that sucks. Glad no one's hurt. A tree fell on my sister's car a few months back. Caved in the driver's side and bent the shit out of the steering wheel. Thankfully, she was out with friends when it happened. Also, a couple of years ago, my nextdoor neighbor had a tree fall on her house and come crashing through her bedroom ceiling WHILE SHE WAS SLEEPING!!! I have no idea how the hell she didn't get hurt or killed.

I tried to take a direct picture of the tree on my apartment, but the tree covered so much of the building that it just looked like a tree standing there at that point.

The picture of the staircase going down is what I saw when I opened my door.
