Just comes from a LOT of practice and not being afraid to try something new OR having to discard some of new patterns that don't look right (to me WITH the purpose of FIRST catching the fly fisher). Of course if I DO fish flies that aren't perfect for sale, as fish DO NOT see as we do. If one looks at some of the spinners, buzz baits, spoons, etc that spin fisherman buy hundreds of millions of dollars worth, they look like NOTHING at all in nature but drive fish crazy!
I think i might just use that design on a larger hook for murray cod of a night time.
