Children reach 18 the start of adulthood.Do you as a parent now have children anymore Or do you have Adult Offspring,In many cases non residential parents are asked or rather forced to make CSA maintenance for their offspring well past 18, particularly if further education is followed.This is wrong and is allowed unchallenged because the government is saving money by taking this stance . is this against human rights?

surely theres a solution to this. get the man & the woman to sit down in court & discuss what aspects of the childs life they r each going to be responsible for financially (50:50) while giving them EQUAL custody. is it really that hard?

heres the thing i dont think any woman should automaticly get child support i think they should have up untill one month after the baby is born to get the man to sign a contract saying he will support that child and visitation rights ect that way there no trapping for either party,, men cant tell women that they want them to get pregnant and have kids and women cannot trap men by telling them they dont want kids and then sabotaging birth control

@fixt100 exactly! if a man & a woman r both equally responsible for a child (which they are), then the guy should have equal control over the situation. it shouldnt just fall in the hands of the woman coz she is the one who is pregnant. a woman can absolve responsibility for the child through abortion or the morning after pill, but whats the mans option? hes forced to take responsibility, whether he wants to or not.

It has taken me over a yr to just have the courts recognize the paternity tests I requested bcuz she basically took my child from me and denied me being the father. Im in school completing my R.T license for Medicine so im not a weirdo or deadbeat. She has a history of BIPOLAR disorder and alcohol abuse and yet the courts dont even listen to me...

I have a question concerning child support: If a man owes a woman child support and has another child by a different woman is it the authority of the Child Support Enforcement to tell the the second woman about the payments of the man to the first woman that haven't been made? And if the man goes to the Child Support office with the 2nd woman and gives his information to pay towards the 2nd child will the missed payments of the 1st child be brought up?

Well guys, its gona get worse, in Apr 2010 all CSA payment got to PWC and their benefits will not be reduced, plus in 2012 it GETS EVEN WORSE, a year end salary is being introduced with no reduction in CSA payment unless your pay reduces by more than 25%. Please Please everyone, take them to the Small Claims Court as I did and won! I believe they are deliberately build-in incompetence but remember, their staff are on bonuses so 'mistakes make money'

sorry but the CSA is not about maintenance, if the mother is on benefits, she only gets the first 10 pounds. So if a father pays 100 per month, she gets the 10 and the gov keeps 90 pounds. Now people have argued this goes to the child tax credits and income support of the children and mother, rubbish. Every person work pays income tax $ national insurance. Put in context, the state takes 40% of your salary via direct & indirect taxes. With CSA payments, it goes up to 80 percent. what scam.

1) In order to pay child support, I, personally, have lived in less than perfect conditions.

2) I now have primary custody of the child, and I receive no help from the mother, and

I agree that 50/50 is a better setup. My situation was accidental. I get along well with the mother, so we don't need the court.

In the United States, we don't get rewarded for higher orders. If anything, unrealistic orders get our agency penalized, since they're impossible to collect on.

We're often at odds with our court, because of this.

Also, we only enforce the monetary portion of the order. Custody and Visitation have to be enforced by a member of law enforcement.

There isn't a Federal Compliance measure tied to the size of an order in the U.S.. The agency that I work for does not charge fees for funding.

Yes. Drivers license suspensions and prison time are methods of enforcement.

Again, at least here in the U.S., Child Support enforcement is separate from custody enforcement

@Canashea It depends on the circumstances. Some times the mother lied to the man about being on birth control; tricking him into becoming a father against his will. In those cases the man absolutely should not have to pay penny, nor the taxpayer for that matter.

Oh, and no father has ever had a refund. The money only ever goes in one direction: From the man (and taxpayer) to the woman.

@WizardKing78 don t tar everyone with the same brush. makes me laugh these men always rely on the woman for birth control, non of which is 100% (unless you are sterilised). then when the sh*t hits the fan the woman gets the blame?? what about the man putting something on the end of it??

@Canashea Sure, it takes two to make a child. Why then is the mother the one who is invariably granted sole-custody, whilst the father is left having to pay all her bills? It's like the mother get all the rights whereas the father is dumped with all the responsibilities.

@WizardKing78 I agree with you, this is a very poor show. Surely the law has got to change? I'm having a few problems at the moment with my partner and I desparate not to loose my kids. We've got 3, all under 10. i just hope it works out. I don't want to go down the CSA root if I can help it.

@TheAgnosticwarrior The thing to keep in mind about the CSA is that only 30p of every £1 paid by the father actually filters through to the mother. The other 70p purely goes towards supporting the bureaucracy of the CSA. Perhaps you should mention this to the mother if things don't work out.

BTW, have you considered getting a DNA test? There's a good chance the kids might not be yours. 1 in 3 don't belong to the father! Shocking, I know.
