  • On the saw being military, is that US military? Seems kind of hard to get those. What about the UK issue saw made and sold by BCB? It's made of of three or so smaller strands braided together. I've found it clogs on green wood but works well on down wood. I've seen about 3 or 4 other makes selling here in the US also, but your's seems to work especially well and I would like to find something close. What could you recommend?

  • Shoot now you gave me and idea for the Chain saw chain..take the same bow and put the nope not going to say it.MY IDEA

  • That went well

  • I've seen other methods of making a wire saw into a bowsaw, yours is certainly the best by a long long way! keep it up!

  • What brand of saw is that?

  • @Djohnstone1969 this one was military issue

  • @Djohnstone1969 goon bud k type in "survival saw" and it will come up as this same one

  • my buddy and fellow youtubber questioned their effectiveness... this should put an end to that debate ! again, brands and qulity vary, get a cheap one from China and results will vary, get a made in USA diamond infused hard cut one, and you can saw down big branches with little effort... 4 inches is about right. better than the discovery channel knife and rock technique.

  • Nice video! Thanks for sharing.

  • Cool video. First person to show me the right way to use one of these. I'm getting one for my quad survival pack. Subcribed. Thanks!

  • Nice idea I'll keep it in mind

  • good deal

  • yeah for mechetes that cut WAY faster

  • If you broke the branch with your hand or foot (stepping on them) you could get the same end product in half the time with a third of the effort

  • @1969jmac I was only showing that size of branch as a demo. The saw is very useful for controlled cuts and can cut from any direction. It will also cut bone, plastic, and aluminum. I never said it was the end all best tool. For its size and weight it works well.

  • @1969jmac you cant step on and break a living branch.

  • Hey thanks, i go back country skiing and i was look for a small tool to help if i get lost (to get firewood for a fire) ive got some pcord and im about to buy one of these, any recomendations for a good company to buy from?

  • @GuardianOfEdenDub amazon.com

  • @GuardianOfEdenDub WHY?? "The Unbelievable Saw" and the "Sawvivor" are both way better saws, and they're just as portable, AND THEY DON'T BREAK ON YOU!

I would never, EVER depend on a wire saw for emergency firewood, even using this method to lessen the chance of it snapping in half... It's just not reliable, period.

  • @theanvilcracks The wire saw is still a great, lightweight backup. What if you lose your "sawvivor?"

  • Very helpful sir... Thank you for these tips... Its like I always say... Lets all learn from each other.

  • What is the biggest diameter of wood have you used this wire saw to cut through and do you think that it can cut through even bigger wood?

  • @verifor I have used this saw to cut 3"-4" pieces of wood.

  • whats the upside of having one of those? everything you just cut i could do with a knife, not trying to be a smartass just generally curious

  • @jmassey74 Some places you may not be able to carry a knife. Also, a wire saw can fit in a very small survival kit that stays with you at all times. A large knife may be a hassle to pack around to some people. Not me though.

  • this is a great video . great job on showing how to use a wire saw

  • what wire/rope was you using to tie one end of the saw to the stick?

  • @anthonydim15 It was 550 cord.

  • @iawoodsman okay nd thanks

  • Nice video, nice job!

  • That's so badass. Your survival videos are so cool.

  • I'm just glade to have seen this vid!

  • I have always thought this to be the best use of the wire saw.

  • How strong are these? i dont wanna bend a stick to make a saw and have it snap or something.

  • @Cptheadstomp420 In a bow or buck saw configuration I have never had one break.

  • @iawoodsman Awesome, im totally gonna buy one or two now. thanks for the vid it was surprisingly hard for me to find a video demonstrating how well they work.

  • Ingenious!

  • Mill tec.co.uk do a good quality wire saw its not as aggressive as this one but is funtional and made of good material.

  • Very neat demonstration. I finally see how you use one of those little wire saws. Brilliant.

  • i have been watching videos on wire saws today, and i must say: yours is a very good one. congrats

  • USE THE SABERCUT SAW - UST

  • What brand/make is that wire saw?

  • @icychap I wish I knew, because I would get another one. Sorry I could not be more help

  • ya ill stick to my pocket chainsaw from uscav

  • i remember when i was in the national guard many years ago and my buddie was very excited about his new survival knife that he had bought because it came with a saw like that. he broke it the first time he tried it by using it wrong. i've never even tried using one of these from that experience but i'll put it on my shopping list now. thanks for showing us the right way to use on of these.

  • You are a very smart guy! Thanks for this video!

  • after watching this i feel like a bone head for wearing my fingers out... lol. brilliant!

  • good idea!

  • i never though of that!!! great improvisation, thanks for sharing :)

  • Excellent review and demonstration. I have one in my truck and one in my woods bumming pouch. Nice job on your video.

  • Too funny I was out today using a wire saw but mine is just a little different hehe...actually its is a hand chain saw, a SaberCut to be exact, but i have to say some of these tricks you show here are excellent, never thought of using it like that before...thanks for sharing man i really appreciate it 5/5

  • do they ever need sharpening or is it diamond wire?

  • The saw as a twisted metal sprial, and can't be sharpened. Once the get dull you just pitch them.

  • @iawoodsman hi dude wat dose pitch them mean ore were you sayin ditch them

  • @50cliber I mean throw it away. When they get dull they are worthless.

  • Ok. that is smart! You just changed my mind about carrying one of those in my kit.

  • great information

  • Nice job Bro..

You are one of the only people I have ever seen use one of these without breaking it! Terrific video..

  • Wish I'd known this long ago. I've broken a couple from improper technique.

  • A good technique in a survival situation :o)

  • Great info as usual , man. Simple, obvious but I hadn't thought of it until you showed it to me.

    Iz

  • Great idea, thanks 5/5

  • gave me sum ideas, maybe i shud dig up my wiresaw and give it another chance

  • great idea

  • Really nice video showing how this can work correctly. I always did the first, wrong way, and they always broke of course.

  • nice job, I have always used the UST saber saw. but I'll have to try it as a bow saw.

  • Great vid!

  • Pretty slick! Does the added tension from the limb handle wear out the saw faster? Seems it also helps in preventing breakage from binding the blade.

    Well done.

  • I have had this saw for about 15 years and seems to be holding up pretty well.
