Jerry Hayes, a childhood friend of mine, wrote the song and I'm sure he appreciated both artists' efforts at his song. His own version, however, closely mirrors the arrangement Alan did. He thought that was awesome because Alan hadn't heard Jerry's version when he recorded it.
